John Bolton, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations who has written for Newsmax Magazine, would be an excellent choice to replace Mike Flynn as President Donald Trump's national security adviser, Sen. Ted Cruz says.
"One person I think would be very, very strong is John Bolton. He's someone who understands the world, he understands the threats of radical Islamic terrorism," the Texas Republican told CNN's Manu Raju on Friday.

How about Colonel Ralph Peterson?
-
I agree with Ted! And the left would go apoplectic!
-
Oooh.....the left literally hates Bolton. He would be an excellent choice!
-
I think Bolton would be an excellent choice.

We're about to see how much pull Sen. Cruz has with Trump, Bannon and Reince, much to the consternation of the #nevercruz folks here.
In spite of Ted stepping out on this I still like Kellogg, hero worship was never my thing.

@mystery-ak
I doubt Trump will pick Bolton - Bolton has a mustache and Trump doesn't like it. Bolton said the mustache stays.
-
Bolton would be an excellent choice. Since Cruz mentioned it....the suggestion is dead in the water.
Geez...just when I start to kind of like Trump....then these horrible memories return of what Trump did to him.

My guess is that Bolton has too much of a record, to please the goode Senators.
He will have once said something that can be misconstrued in ways he didn't intend, but nonetheless, the forces of political correctness will carry the day.

I don't understand why Ted would say this, put this out there, he's not known to speculate on such things about THIS Administration, maybe just a trail balloon for an insider, he has done allot to push through Sessions, Tillerson and Pruitt, maybe Trump does like him (or 'think' he's a usable fool like Rudy, Newt, Christy and Romney), we'll see.
Bolton (the already President of RedEye), has already been turned down once by Trump and he won't be used either, like those 4 fools I mentioned earlier, he'll walk again, just as Hayward did last night.

We are about to see that Cruz has zero pull with Trump. Trump doesn't need anything from Cruz right now and doesn't agree with Bolton about Russia.
While I'd like to see Bolton there from a purely 'qualified' standpoint, he has about no chance of ever working in a Trump admin.

I agree. I've always liked John, even if his moustache doesn't match his hair.
