Title: Sen. Bob Menendez declines reelection as Democrat, may run as independent
Post by: Gefn on March 23, 2024, 01:57:29 pm
Menendez’s announcement comes days before New Jersey’s Democratic filing deadline on March 25.

“I will win in November even if I have to beat Menendez and a Republican simultaneously,” Kim said on X, formerly Twitter. “The balance of the Senate is on the line and we need the strongest candidate possible to keep this seat blue and the Senate in Democratic control.”

Republicans see an opportunity.

Any Joisey Briefers here?

Does Menendez have enough residual support to sap away enough votes to flip the Senate race as a 3rd Party candidate.

I don't know who is running as a Republican but the two people left on the Democrat side are Andy  Kim, who is a congressman and Tammy Murphy, the governor's wife

Hmmm...

Wondering if this turn of events just might favor a strong Republican candidate in a 3-way race...?

(the $64 question is where are they going to GET a "strong Republican candidate" in NJ...???)
