Title: 10th Amendment Resolution
Post by: HikerGuy83 on October 27, 2020, 10:47:03 pm
Several years ago, there was an effort to get 10th Amendment resolutions passed in state legislatures.

Most conservatives are fans of the 10th Amendment.

The RNC is a total failure in that regard.

How did AZ do in that regard.

Is it a topic of conversations these days ?

We need to "undead" it.

The 10th amendment has basically been ignored by the GOP.

Conservatives have not been all that good with it either.

Federalism is not a concept well understood by many....and that is a crying shame.

It'd be good if we can get 25% of the people who vote to give it a good look.  Personally, I prefer "the old ways" on this.  I'd love to see it undeaded.

I don't know who started the idea, but the resolutions were debated in several states.

The resolutions were non-binding but sought to affirm (make visible) the idea that the Federal Government long ago stepped way over the "limits" the constitution intended.

Before we can take this fight to the oppostion...we need people to understand it.

I used to have lunch time meetings with groups to discuss local politics.

I was giving a presentation on something and I mentioned the 10th Amendment.  20 hard core conservatives in the room.  I turned and asked "You do know what the 10th amendment says...don't you ?"  20 heads shook in the negative.  I was astounded.

 :pondering:

I think that's interesting.  Is there a status in the AZ Legislature?

I have no idea.

Remember, I don't live in AZ yet and have not for 35 years.

I know I pushed my state legislators in Kansas....but it never got legs.....

Kansas of all places !!!!!!

We have a long long way to go.
