With everything so expensive right now, it may be difficult for those starting out.

I know I've fallen behind with keeping drinking water on hand -- something that is much needed for dehydrated food, though we have a still that we can purify water.  No swimming pool in this house -- so we'd have to resort to drawing water from the canal behind us. So this is something that I need to work on.

18 mos. out is something I'm definitely not prepared for -- 4-6 mos. is about our max.  So again something to work on, but it's going to be costly.  We've got the storage space (I think) just need more food and water.

In our current home, we wouldn't be able to go two years without electricity. We'd freeze to death.
Take me, Lord, I'm ready!

How about a wood stove???  We had one when we lived up north -- kept us toasty.  Only hassle is either cutting wood or having wood delivered and then waking up in the middle of the night, when the stove needed to be reloaded. I have no idea how much wood delivery costs these days.

We'll have the opposite problem -- 90+ temps and high humidity.  It gets pretty uncomfortable without air (we survived it for 2 weeks with a generator that we ran the air off and on and and night).  We're talking 18 mos...so...us spring chickens (lol) will either adapt or die.  During the winter months it would be much more comfortable.

Then -- dealing with the chaos in the streets and those seeking food and water and other goodies -- we have a neighbor who said he'd keep lookout from his roof (lol).

If we were about 10 years younger, I wouldn't be as concerned as I am now.
