Pete Buttigieg says capitalism a threat to democracy

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said Sunday that capitalism is a potential threat to democracy, even in the U.S.
"America is a capitalist society but it has to be a democratic capitalism. That is really important and it is slipping away from us. When capitalism comes into tension with democracy, which is more important?" the South Bend, Ind., mayor said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"I believe democracy is more important. When you have capitalism capturing democracy, where you have the kind of regulatory capture where powerful corporations can arrange the rules for their benefit, that's not real capitalism," he added.
Buttigieg used Russia as an example of what happens when capitalism gets out of control. "It turns into crony capitalism and that turns into oligarchy," he said.

When a corporation gets out of control, you have the right to stop buying their products.
When a democracy gets out of control, they vote to shut you up, steal from you, imprison you, or worse - and then they blame you for the trouble.

Someone needs to inform the South Bend mayor we’re not a democracy. We’re a Representative Republic. So his line about democracy coming into tension with capitalism makes no sense at all.

Hope Buttgigger did some wild Fidel Castro gesticulations and animations, and slipped in some good old fashioned 'Insidious and nefarious bourgeoisie capitalist pigs! We will bury you! Viva la revolucion!' into that speech, like any good commie should.

I can't tell you how fed up and disgusted I am to constantly hear virtually everyone in government and in the media (including too many "Republicans" to count) yammering on and on about "our democracy!"
As you say, we don't have one, we aren't one, so STHU about it!

Neither does his association of corporatism (crony capitalism is a misnomer) with capitalism. Corporatism requires big-gov in order to 'cozy up' effectively, and is as such, closer to the socialists than to the capitalists. 3rd-way socialism is born of corporatism, and that is exactly what American socialists are selling.
