I think you'll find it's longer than a 5 year plan.

Jihadis are, slightly oddly, realists. They don't care if something takes a day or a millennium to achieve, as long as it happens. They take the long view.

Bit like the communists, but way more patient about things - that's the fatalism creeping in.
