Gallup: Negative Opinions on Obamacare Holding Steady

Despite an apology by President Barack Obama and news reports that the troubled Healthcare.gov website is working slightly better, Americans' opinions of Obamacare still have not dramatically improved, a new survey reveals.

The Gallup poll of 1,011 adults on Wednesday and Thursday found that 51 percent now disapproved of the Affordable Care Act. That compared with 55 percent last month.

Meanwhile, only 41 percent of those surveyed now approve of Obamacare — up a percentage point from last month — Gallup found.

"Americans' attitudes about the law have varied over the past year, but became decidedly more negative in November as it became clear that the exchange website was not working properly," Gallup said. "Now, with news reports of the government's partial success in fixing the website, the upward trajectory of negative views has stopped."

The national survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Last month, Obama apologized to the millions of Americans who lost their health coverage, despite his assurances that they could keep it, and he told citizens that Healthcare.gov would be working better by Dec. 1.
