Baldwin Hills Dam Disaster: Completed 1951, Failed 1963, 5 Dead
This location is near a lateral fault off the well known Newport-Inglewood Fault

Neither of these two dams were rebuilt
Oroville Dam drawfs these two historic dams. Hope Oroville holds up through expected rain later this week.
Oroville Dam Completed 1967 Height 770 ft. Controversy regarding deferred maintenance from 2005 etc.

The St Francis Dam was a cool one because everyone knew it was a loser and called Mulholland up there to see it leak. He said everything was A O K just one day before it burst. Dumb bastard.
