Workers build concrete wall along the border with Syria in Sanliurfa, Turkey on January 9, 2017 to take action against illegal crossings as part of increased security measures.

After building a 688-kilometer-long wall on the border between Turkey and Syria, Ankara has completed the tender for a 144-kilometer wall on the border with neighboring İran, DHA reported on Saturday.

Ergün Turan, chairman of the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKI), said they have completed preparations and are ready to start construction.

It's not as tall as a U.S. border barrier should be, but even this looks solid and effective.

If the Turks can afford to do this, why can't we?

Sumthin' tells me all that blabber about a wall costing "tens of billions" is just that -- blabber.

Could it be because much of the terrain on the US/Mexico border is not flat desert?
