Defense rests without Trump testimony

Former President Trump will not take the stand in his own defense during his New York criminal trial, after his attorneys rested their case Tuesday, shortly after prosecutors did the same the day before.

The decision to keep Trump off the stand comes after weeks of uncertainty, with Trump sometimes telling reporters he could testify — a move legal experts have warned could be risky in the former president’s first criminal trial — and other times ignoring persistent questions on the matter.

Trump attorney Bove has nothing further for Costello. Soros funded District Attorney has two more questions:

1) about retainer, showing a retainer agreement as of April 20, 2018 - Costello injects, “that’s the day Cohen said he was never on the team.” ADA: Did Cohen ever sign that retainer agreement? Costello: No

2) Did Cohen ever repay you? No

No further questions, ADA wraps up. Emil Bove has no further questions.

Hang in there, Joe!
By Frank Friday

I distinctly remember Joe Biden in 2019 all but promising to serve just one term. Given his deteriorating health even then, it was a wonder how he got through to the finish in 2020. I expected that was that, but in 2022, he started making noises for re-election.

What changed? For one, I think Jill Biden really likes living in the White House.

Two, Kamala Harris, aka VP Giggles, is even worse than we know. Think about it, the people in charge who see both Biden and Harris everyday up close, still would favor Dementia Joe rather than risk a President Harris. Scary!

And three, Team Biden was buoyed by Trump’s 2022 polling and how Democrats held up in the mid-terms.

But now, I think catastrophe is staring the Dems in the face and there are no good options. Sure, they might get a bump in the polls if the rigged NYC trial goes as expected and convicts Trump for a crime that doesn’t exist. But it won’t last long.

If they dump Joe, they have to nominate Harris. They can’t stand the humiliation of admitting Joe is a vegetable and then turn around and say the Queen of DEI was also a mistake, by picking some random white liberal.

That white churches are even considering giving these people a single dime should be enough of a reason for those people to leave the church.

Where would  these churches get the money to  pay that?

Good news is the aid is getting those who need it most. /s

Because the Sec. Def. is a person of color, lawmakers, in their usual slinky way, will find nothing or stuff so trivial as to mean nothing.  They may be honest but when was the last time you saw an honest politician? :pondering:

Bove: Did you ever pressure Michael Cohen to do anything?

Costello: No

Bove: Did you ever have control over Michael Cohen?

Costello: Clearly not.

Two questions get objected to including: Does a lawyer ever have control over a client?

Bove: Did you ever have control over Michael Cohen sir?

Costello: No I did not.

Bove asks to bring up another email.

Soros funded DA’s office objects to Merchan siting beyond the scope, Merchan sustains.

Bove says to the “Judge” that this email was asked about by the prosecution. Merchan still sustains.

Lawmakers press investigation into DEI agenda at the Pentagon
By Casey Harper | The Center Square 19 hrs ago

TCS - Marines participate in a defense of the amphibious task force gunnery exercise in the East China Sea.

Chris Williamson | Department of Defense
(The Center Square) – A coalition of lawmakers is pushing forward the ongoing investigation into just how much taxpayer money Pentagon officials are taking away from national defense and putting toward diversity, equity and inclusivity initiatives.

The Pentagon has been under increasing scrutiny for its focus on DEI, even as the Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Hamas wars continue.

The lawmakers sent a letter to the Defense Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion Chair General (Ret.) Lester Lyles expressing concerns that the focus on DEI was a distraction and was hurting recruitment.

The Urgent Need for Security Clearance Reform
By Evan Loomis
May 21, 2024
U.S. Army

"I wish you had a security clearance so I could tell you what's really going on." It's what those of us working on cutting-edge defense and intelligence technologies hear regularly, and it captures the problem of America's outdated security clearance system.

Born out of the post-World War II era, the U.S. security clearance system was designed for a different time — one of monolithic, slow-moving threats and a government monopoly on foundational research. However, in today's world of rapid technological change, this once-effective system has become a major roadblock. It hinders the creative potential of our brightest minds and leaves investors in the dark, unable to direct resources towards critical national challenges.

The contemporary clearance system has four main levels: Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI), Top Secret (TS), Secret (S), and Confidential (C). Each level grants access to increasingly sensitive information, with TS/SCI being the highest. Obtaining a clearance involves a lengthy background investigation process that can take months or even years.
