Title: 'Link to Windows' App - Loses Friendly Names in Messaging on PC
Post by: roamer_1 on July 30, 2022, 11:31:40 pm
I don't know if anyone else uses the Link to Windows app with their Android phone - But what it does is allow your PC and your phone to talk to each other, and allow operation of your phone from your PC.

As a general rule, I mainly use it when my phone is in the charger, as an easy way to keep up with messaging.

Lately on the PC app, messaging lost 'friendly' names, reverting some (not all) names to phone numbers, which was an aggravation. Resolved it today by resetting the app from both directions.

-Remove the PC from the phone in Link to Windows
-Remove the 'Link to Windows' account from 'Accounts' on the phone.

-In the Phone Link app on the PC, in Settings=>Devices, remove the phone.

Restart BOTH devices and both apps will be reset to default - Simply follow the instructions as if it was a new connection.

Worked for me. Got Friendly Names back.

To reiterate, and be concise:

'Your Phone' and 'Phone Link' are the very same Microsoft product.

If yours is called 'Your Phone', update the app.

Ah!  Right!  Same ting! I never had it forget the names on the contact list.
