Dems declare ‘Bernie mopped the floor with Hillary’; see her most ironic line in debate
January 18, 2016 | Michael Dorstewitz | 0 comments | Print Article
The gloves came off of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders at Sunday night’s debate. His debate performance perfectly matched his surge in poll numbers at the South Carolina event.
The audience heard no more “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails,” like he told front-runner Hillary Clinton at the October debate.
For those who like numbers, ABC political director and number-cruncher Rick Klein kept score. After the dust settled, he tweeted:
Focus group – RT @ChrisKofinis: Sanders wins SC debate in blowout – 27 for Sanders, 2 HRC, 1 O’Malley. Very strong performance..

The New York Post reported:
Hillary Clinton’s goal was clear — to make the point that she’s the serious and sober candidate and Bernie Sanders is a pie-in-the-sky fantasist. Indeed, Sanders more than once said he wanted “revolutionary change.”
Of particular concern for the Clinton clan is her past — especially when it comes to the ongoing FBI criminal investigation into her emails — since expanded to include questionable Clinton Foundation donations.
“No individual is too big to jail,” she admitted.
One observer tweeted in glee:
.@HillaryClinton: “No individual is too big to jail.” ..Someone get the FBI on the phone, she just gave permission to indict her #DemDebate

The Post reported another odd moment:
She also had a genuinely creepy, Michael-Corleone-in-“Godfather 2” moment when she basically said “we’re both part of the same hypocrisy” after the third man in the debate, Martin O’Malley, criticized her for raising money on Wall Street.
Here’s a refresher on that one:

The results were overwhelming in favor of the independent senator from Vermont, who described=s himself as a Democratic socialist.

I didn't watch the debate, but from the commentaries and the large crowds that he draws (in comparison to Hillary), Bernie is the one that the GOP needs to be worried about.

I watched both the democratic debates. Last time Hillary was on target, on message and used Bernie to mop the floor. This time she was easily tripped up and had no come backs and latched on to Obama every chance she got and Bernie clobbered her.
BUT, the interesting thing is O'Malley is more middle of the road and may draw the old "blue dog democrats" away from Hillary, I think Webb got out too soon.
Bernie had complete logic to his position and had justifications and tax plans to back them up... as blatantly communist as he is will make it easy for Cruz or Trump to nail him but Bush/Rubio will have a tough time with Bernie.

Don't think that I would use the term "worried about" concerning Sanders. Trump would tie him up in knots, and make a complete fool of him. IMO

I hope so... a jewish, socialist/communist president would complete Bambi's destruction of this country...

If it's a megalomaniac who wants to bring back Smoot Hawley against a socialist who wants to bring back the Soviet Union he visited on his honeymoon, I daresay a libertarian/centrist third party candidate could take this election.
The Democratic side is suddenly in the same kind of turmoil as the GOP. I'm seeing hope on the horizon. Trump vs. Sanders may create a historic opportunity for a libertarian to harness the frustration of freedom loving Americans that can see the big government danger in both parties.
The time for a viable third party challenge to both parties' insanity may be at hand.

What we should be REALLY worried about is that anyone who espouses the political ideology that Bernie Sanders does can draw a crowd anywhere in America! THAT is what whe should be worried about!

The American experiment has been circling the drain for 83-years. Time to act to stop it.

Bernie's top level message is simple: Look at those rich guys, they keep getting richer and you, the working class are getting smothered. Low wages, no increases, more work, more debt, those rich guys are killing you. We need to eat the rich.
The reason that sells so well is that it's not altogether untrue. A drowning man will grab at anything that offers some buoyancy.

Yep. Revolution is coming. The question is will it be an electoral style "Reagan Revolution" or more like the French Revolution?

I didn't watch. But did go to cnn to see the after party for hillary. It was on a real small stage hillarys name was written in cursive on the wall behind them.I swear one looked like it said hellery. bill was speaking and hill was next to him. He was going on about how she answered the last question like a prez would. The crowd photo shot......none. only could hear a few people clapping and yelling hilary.

It was a strange event, flowers, and an odd and rigid single camera angle (in this day and age of rotating tripods) The signs looked like 3rd grade hand-made things. Bill was very low key, looking almost depressed, no animation whatsoever, no excitement that animates. And again that strange camera angle...it was obvious manipulation, but the tone was unmistakably muted, like they were talking to a handful of people.

Good, someone else saw it too. Then bill saying how great hills answer was on the Flint water situation...."she answered the question presidential like, just like a prez would".........what kind of statement was that from bill? How is that making her a great candidate? It seems like they are not even prepared at times? Or are they that out of touch....they think they have it and not even trying?

So Bill is on the stage with her often? That is to remind people that may think she isn't up to it, that she will have Bill too.
Two for the price of one. Remember that? He seems to be aging fast. Both Trump and Sanders are older than Bill but they seem much more healthy.
And aging happens. Bill's mother lived to age 70. (Father died in car accident)
Can anybody envision Bill on stage in 8 years, at the rate he seems to be aging?

Yes indeed. In Portland, Oregon he drew a crowd of over 19,000 people inside the 'arena' with another 9,000 or so outside. I was alarmed. That moment really opened my eyes wide open to the fact that people are fed up with the establishment on both sides. I find it extremely alarming that a known socialist can draw that kind of crowd in the United States Of America!

Could be looking at a little dementia there too. Have experienced that with my parents, they start saying things that make you go, "Whut?" They start having changes in personality - gradual at first - and then it dawns on you that there's something wrong.
I'm especially seeing it in Bill. Hillary is just plain old-fashioned stupid-evil, always has been.

She's trying to bring back 2 for 1...and visually, Bill doesn't look like his womanizing old self at all. Maybe she can, it's Democrats after all. The lack of energy was very obvious.

Didn't she suffer a serious concussion? Supposedly she has no lingering affects, but I would think that age might just play a factor. I didn't watch the debate, but with all that has been said ... perhaps she wasn't focused because maybe for once in her life she may have to take responsibility for those darn e-mails that keep cropping up.

Concussions may (but don't necessarily) lead to CTE, and not just for football or hockey players - so there's a chance, however slim, her concussion contributes to her relative incoherence.

As I understand it, the only way to conclusively diagnose CTE is post mortem.
I demand that we find out conclusively whether candidate Clinton suffers from CTE.

I wonder how a remark like that directed at Trump or Cruz would go over.
-
When we say such things here, we all know we're kidding. To any visitors reading this: it really was tongue-in-cheek.
If it were said at Daily Kos or some Bernie Sanders site, I wouldn't be so sure.
-
I wonder how a remark like that directed at Trump or Cruz would go over.
Why don't you make it and find out... so you can put your mind at ease...

Here to defend Hillary from the caustic comments of the VRWC?
I wonder what Amb. Stevens would think of my remark?
