I like omelettes
-
Eggs come from hen butts.
-
It depends on how you place the carton in the refrigerator.
-
From a practical...non ocd stance... B or C. It distributes the egg weight evenly in the carton so if you pick it up at one end the eggs don't all fall to the floor.

I had a good friend who said that eggs were "liquid chickens". Think about that.....

True. But if you use option D and place the carton on the shelf with the egg-side to the front, then you'd pick it up where the weight is the heaviest and still won't spill them.
Edited to add: ... which is why I chose Option B. It works no matter how you pick up the carton.
-
I have OCD so B C or D would work for me...
-
A family friend has been giving us free range straight from the farm eggs..
Wow the taste difference is incredible as in so much better. Hard to go back to store bought eggs.
-
All of them at one end, cut off the rest of the carton.
-
I chose D. Start at one end and work your way through it!
-
B is most pleasing
-

Honey is bee vomit :silly:
-
Clearly "other." One egg should be placed in each corner. It's symmetrical, and if you place them any other way, the corners feel too "light."
This post interrupted me checking to see if the door is locked. I only made it to the thirtieth attempt. I will now resume checking.
-
Just as odd, is how to put them in the fridge - I like the light end of the carton toward me - I don't know why.
-
Due to frailty and quality of styroform these days, obviously A. Provides proper weight distribution along carton surface area. Thus reducing the probability of carton collapsing and dropping (breaking) the eggs.
B is acceptable, if you have the habit of grabbing the carton on the middle. I'd guess most don't
And yes, I am OCD enough to have thought this through in the past.
-
D
I start at one end of the carton and take them out until I reach the other end, to lazy to move them around, for me OCD takes a back seat to my natural sloth..
-
What was that show with Tony Salobe something or other....
-
I have OCD so B C or D would work for me...
Here you go!

Expiration date facing you.....
-
D. The question says you have 4 eggs left, which implies you've already used 8, and an OCD person would use eggs the correct way - start at one end of the carton and work toward the other end. You wouldnt just pull them out Willy-nilly from the carton.

This thread is making me hungry.

I starting to think some of you folks have a family "Coat of Arms" that Tie in the back!

This thread is making me hungry.
I bought a big crock pot a few weeks ago and started a whole ham in it at about 5 AM this morning. The house is starting to smell hammy.

Eggs expire? Who knew? I go through them so fast, there is never a chance of them going bad...
-

Had fried left-over mashed potatoes and eggs already this morning... That's one egg to bind the taters and two to lay up alongside...

Yeah... nothing better than finding a rotten egg and throwing it at your brother... Not your sister though... They hurt when you pitch em, and she'll go crying to mom.

My wife and I always go use them from both ends to keep the load in the middle balanced. It's not really OCD it's just habit.

But which end do you start from?
-
I don't do expiration date on eggs. If they don't stink or have an off color, they're good to go. ;}
yep.
A little holiday egg trivia. Old eggs peel better than new eggs. I learned this while living in TN where one can actually get older eggs. I was amazed that eggs that had been left in the fridge for two weeks would easily make gorgeous deviled eggs.
Moved back to Texas... two month old eggs don't peel well. Eggs here are too damned fresh.
I actually knew that - My general use cackle-berries are free range and fresh, but I actually buy eggs to boil, because they peel better... and that dash of vinegar thing actually works to keep em from cracking in the boil too.
I eat a lot of pickles, so I always have a bunch of pickle juice around... Pickled eggs are awesome.

@Cripplecreek
I'm grabbing my keys now...I'll make biscuits.

But which end do you start from?
Doesn't that depend upon whether you open them lid-toward or lid-away?

I can make French toast with challah bread

Putting onions, taters, carrots and celery in with the ham.
Other people use a ham bone for boiled dinner but I don't screw around. I use the whole damn ham.

You and me, both. I buy them in the 5-dozen packages and have trouble keeping them long enough to make them easy to peel for deviled eggs.

I can make French toast with challah bread
Never tried that, but it sounds great!
-
We enjoy pickled "cackleberries" around here as well. Now I am hungry.
I'll say again... Do a dozen in bread and butter pickle juice... Make em deviled by the standard pickle-relish style recipe... Except substitute mayo with Arby's Horsey Sauce (one packet per egg). Best deviled eggs ever.
-
But which end do you start from?
Whichever one is closer to my hand. That's why I said it wasn't OCD.
-
You and me, both. I buy them in the 5-dozen packages and have trouble keeping them long enough to make them easy to peel for deviled eggs.
I am by myself, but I easy go through 3 dozen a week... A dozen to boil (and pickle if I can), 2 eggs every morning (makes for 14 more), and the rest go away in cooking .... Gotta use an egg wash to get flour on whatever I'm throwing in the oil, if you know what I mean...
-
I'm OCD and the answer is B! B! B! dammit B! The others are abominations!
-
I can make French toast with challah bread
@Freya
Challah bread! I haven't had that in quite a while, but I love it. At a job I used to have, a friend and I used to buy a loaf of that stuff and eat it during the afternoon, when we got hungry.

French toast with Challah bread is awesome and now is the time to add some egg nogg to the eggs. Oh, yummy yummy.

Older eggs do peel better when they are hard-boiled.
Then again, ALL eggs peel better when they are hard-boiled.
It's hard to peel one that is not............

In most countries they don't even put eggs into the fridge
-
In most countries they don't even put eggs into the fridge
It's because we wash them in the USA per gubmint mandate due to a Salmonella outbreak years and years ago. The wash takes off a protective barrier and the egg needs refrigerated. If you have your own chicken you don't have to.
-
Doesn't that depend upon whether you open them lid-toward or lid-away?
Yes it does.
-
I had an egg for breakfast thanks to this thread. Over easy.
-
B of course. That is if you leave them in the carton. Mine go in a hard plastic container that holds at least 18 extra large and does a much better job of protecting them. Easier to get in and out of the fridge. When moving them from the cartoon to the container you start with the corner egg on one end then the opposite corner egg on the other end and continue in that fashion keeping the carton evenly balanced just in case.
Picked eggs. Yummmm. Deviled eggs. Yummmm. I need to try the deviled pickled eggs.
-
I forgot. Always break your egg into another container before adding it to food or otherwise cooking it. Saves unpleasant surprises and ruining cake of cookie batter other foods.
-
just eat the stupid eggs already

I just read that you can add Worcestershire sauce to scrambled eggs. I'll have to try that tomorrow, my wife loves scrambled eggs and w sauce. Anybody tried them that way?
