Independent Vermont Senator and 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders gave a lengthy interview in 1985 in which he praised Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, defended Nicaragua’s Sandinista government, and slammed then-President Ronald Reagan as a liar.
The interview originally aired on August 8, 1985 on Vermont’s Channel 17/Town Meeting Television, and followed then-Burlington Mayor Sanders’ visit to Nicaragua, where he attended a rally at which Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega railed against the United States government.....

If a 1971 John Wayne interview is Fair Game, then so is this.

“The key issue here was whether the United States should go around overthrowing small Latin American countries. I think that that was a mistake… both in Nicaragua and Cuba.”

“Look, let’s look at the facts here. Cuba is, of course, an authoritarian undemocratic country, and I hope very much as soon as possible it becomes a democratic country,” Sanders continued, after an interruption from the moderator, “But on the other hand… it would be wrong not to state that in Cuba they have made some good advances in health care. They are sending doctors all over the world. They have made some progress in education. I think by restoring full diplomatic relations with Cuba, it will result in significant improvements to the lives of Cubans and it will help the United States and our business community invest.”

An interview like this isn't going to hurt him with his "constituency".
It will probably HELP.

I do agree with Bernie that we as a country should not be invading countries around the globe.  Providing aid is one ting, overthrowing leadership in nations is another.

And the only thing I ever agreed with that Obama did was normalizing relations with Cuba.  We trade with China and Vietnam, two communist nations, both countries that we had men fighting their people in two wars, the Chinese in the Korean War and of course the Vietnam War.

While we embargoed Cuba, the primary beneficiary was Canada.  Made no sense to me.

Bernie is a bit over the top on how well the Cuban people are living.  If they were doing so well, we would not have a steady stream of people fleeing Cuba to come to the USA through the years.

1985?  I'm more concerned with Sanders, just this week, refusing to label Maduro as a dictator even as he burns truckloads of food meant for his starving people.

Socialists stick together,  and starving one's own people is a time-honored socialist ploy.

What Maduro is doing is foolish.  And Sanders not condemning his actions does him no favors.  Sanders, a man that has existed for 28 years and done literally nothing in our federal government is a weak sister to say anything against our president, and is a weak candidate for the Dems.  If he were to win, it would guarantee President Trump four more years.

The single greatest threat to Trump is Clinton.  I believe she will run and once again easily win the Dems nomination.  Nothing would please me more her running again to lose to President Trump by an even larger margin.  Trump's commitment to the American people is real, and his results speak for themselves.
