ROME—A 19-year-old U.S. student has confessed to killing a policeman in central Rome, in a crime that has shaken Italy, national news agency ANSA reported on Friday, July 26.

Italian military police Carabinieri arrested two U.S. students in connection with the killing, they said on Saturday. The students are being held for the alleged murder and attempted extortion, according to a statement.

Judicial sources have named the students as Finnegan Lee Elder and Gabriel Christian Natale-Hjorth, both from San Francisco. Their lawyers could not be immediately reached.

I saw Italy was undergoing a national tragedy over the killing of a policeman and that they were remembering him, I was not aware of the rest of this.

So two Kalifornia gun-free kids go to gun free Europe and manage to get a weapon to kill someone...

There's a thread about this on DU (https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142346874), and predictably, Trump is invoked and rich people are blamed.

For multiple generations public schools have taught students:

* They are the highest animal evolved so far;

* There are no moral absolutes;

* Life is cheap and can be taken for personal convenience (aka abortion).

With that moral education, why be the least bit surprised that some behave like animals and take people's lives outside of the currently accepted time in life?!

Trump had zip to do with this. These kids did as they were taught by their parents and/or teachers and/or peers, as certainly as any economically poor white or brown or black kid from a "bad side of town".

BTW, Marin County is north of SF, across the Golden Gate Strait. Marin has a lot of affluent, very liberal, residents.

Rome (CNN) — Two 19-year-old Americans have been arrested while on vacation in Rome over the murder of an Italian police officer Friday, Italian police told CNN Saturday.

The Carabinieri police force said in a statement that the pair were arrested Friday night for "the crime of aggravated murder and attempted extortion."

Police named the suspects as Christian Gabriel Natale Hjorth and Elder Finnegan Lee, and said both were from San Francisco. Photos of the pair have not been released.

US teen suspected in killing of police officer blindfolded by police in Rome

They should probably consider themselves lucky, if blindfolding is all that happened, after the murder of an officer.

The CNN news article linked, mentioned Italy's FAR RIGHT Interior Minister, as if was a necessary component of coverage of a murder.

BTW in their legal system, you are presumed guilty, until proved innocent.

Maybe the guy's pals back home will demonstrate at Bezerkley for them to be "exonerated."

Hold a sit-in. Yell, scream, bring in Antifa.

No death penalty I don't think but Salvini (interior minister) said they deserved hard labor for life... then, he sort of backtracked but... they'll probably get life imprisonment. I imagine an Italian prison would be no fun. A great tragedy that this police officer died.
