Ocasio-Cortez Excuses Her Factual Errors: Critics Are More Concerned About Facts Than Being ‘Morally Right’
Posted By David Rutz On January 7, 2019 @ 10:31 am In Politics | No Comments
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) said on "60 Minutes" Sunday that the focus on her factual errors by political opponents was "missing the forest for the trees" and having her facts right wasn't as important as being "morally right."
"One of the criticisms of you is that your math is fuzzy," interviewer Anderson Cooper said.
Cooper mentioned the Washington Post‘s Four-Pinocchio rating of Ocasio-Cortez's claim that $21 trillion in Pentagon "accounting errors" could fund two-thirds of progressives' desire for "Medicare for all."

Thus far, has she been either one, that is, factually or morally correct about anything?
-
If you don't have a factual basis for your argument, then you have no way to know if you are 'moral'- you are instead basing it on your own ego what you may believe is right- but not necessarily what is actually right.
At that, if you are basing your 'morals' on falsehoods, your morals are more likely than not, also false.
All actions should be measured to be right and true, not just blindly followed based on ego. Imagine of a carpenter based his measurements on his beliefs versus what he could factually measure.
-
Another Liberal whose arguments and beliefs are based in emotions and feelings rather than real outcomes facts and reality.
-
Just wondering when did emotions ever make you morally correct, and when did they become a substitute for facts.
-

I wish people would start ignoring that nut case. I am sick of reading about her.

The Dems have known for decades the facts weren't on their side for what they want to do to us...so they went for the emotional angle. That way they can attack anyone who brings up those pesky facts as heartless cruel people who want children and the elderly to die.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong...but didn't the Dems used to lecture us that you couldn't legislate morality? :pondering:

By definition as a socialist, AOC is not moral.

By definition as a socialist, AOC is not moral.
True that. The 'ends justify the means' set never really has been.
But she makes one heck of a media smokescreen for the rest of those dirty rats.
-
Morally right? How about Separation of Church and State?
This is why they call it CULTural Marxism.
-
So, her morality isabsed on non-truths?
-
She should be required to watch PragerU on Youtube.
-
So, her morality isabsed on non-truths?
Morality of the isabsed type invariably proves to be specious. (If you had straightforwardly said that you don't think she is moral, I would say "Me either.") happy77

Ocasio-Cortez Blasts Politifact, WaPo for Fact Checking: ‘I Say True Things All the Time’

"I say true things all the time." :silly: She sounds like a child.
"... it looks like @PolitiFact has fact-checked Sarah Huckabee Sanders and myself..." 9999hair out0000 Misuse of myself. Like fingernails on a blackboard.
Thin-skinned attention hog.

I've read the childish speech is scripted, just like Blasey Ford. If you talk like a widdle girl with a widdle Betty Boop voice, people will not be as critical of what you say. They may even think you're harmless. Why else would AOC use a phrase like "tippy top" to describe the wealthy. What adult - let alone one who supposedly earned an economics degree - would say such a thing? But it's just so cute!

You may be right. That tippy-top comment was ludicrous.
-
Tomorrow, she will accuse the President of being factually wrong.

With all due respect, she was talking to a tippy-topper when she said it. And Nancy Pelosi was listening. She needed a word that sound a lot like "not you".

Zacktly!
How much Factually Inaccurate Nonsense have we had to listen to demonstrating Trump's unfitness for Office, but when it's a Rat Desideratum, THEN, it's "For The Greater Good" to distort, misreport, falsify, and flat out Lie.

@Emjay
If she was a Michael Moore I would agree with you. But she is a member of Congress and can vote on legislation and introduce legislation. And her ideas not only need to be ridiculed but intellectually challenged because her ideas would devastate the economy and the middle class. Her Version of being “morally right†does not overcome math and economics
I’ve had a discussion with a couple people who like her and are upset that fact checkers call her out and they believe that the only reason why it’s being done to her is because she’s a minority, young, and female. I remind them that those same fact checkers correct the president and he’s not young, minority, or female

She is one member of Congress who is a fad right now. I am still not interested in her.

Considering I figured Rap 'music' would pass in a year or two, and I was devastatingly wrong, I'm not making any predictions about Cortez. Anyone that stupid in a position of power is like a like a child playing with sweaty dynamite. Dangerous. Especially with the backing of people stupid enough to elect her.
-
@Emjay
Ignore her at your peril. She's getting a lot of other dem/coms signing on with her new green deal.

The Dems have always embraced their crackpots, that gives them an extreme bargaining starting position that makes mere Socialism seem "reasonable", and at least closer to the middle. They have lots of ground to give that way, before 'settling' on what they wanted in the first place.
OTOH, the Pubbies shove their Originalists, COnstitutionalists, and the like (what they see as "extremists") under the bus and start to negotiate from what they wanted down to less.
Not one in the lot is a decent horse trader. You always start from a position that lets you give some ground and end up where you really wanted to be, and if you hit it right, with even more.

She's a fad and an annoying one. I will risk the 'peril' of ignoring her for the satisfaction of not seeing her stupid face and reading her ignorant remarks.
She is alienating more people than are supporting her. Total embarrassment to the party that can almost never be embarrassed.

She is going to burn out here welcome fast, even among her generation. She is the avocado toast of politics.

Someone upthread hinted at this - she's like rap music: anti-musical, obnoxious, anti-societal, talentless and can be done by those with no musical talent at all. Heck, I could probably do it. It started in a small anti-social community and should have had no reason whatsoever to spread beyond that community. But, it has, and made multi-millionaires of some of its practitioners. And, it's everywhere now, spreading gangsta ideology. Definitely an influential force.
It's used as an exemplification for "caring for the downtrodden" and the cynical or unaware among us use rap and rappers to show how virtuous and socially conscious they are.
I think she may be very influential in the future.

And that, folks, is the scary part. Even if she would have faded fast, the media (like the 'music' promoters) will make sure she does not.
