Critics say Illinois Dems trying to pull fast one, force businesses to display ‘free election year advertising’

Desperate Illinois Democrats are attempting to pull a fast one, passing legislation that would require businesses to display messages that are essentially “free election-year advertising” that is unconstitutional propaganda, according to Republicans.
The legislation was shoved through early on Saturday. It mandates that privately-owned gas stations display stickers on their gas pumps telling customers that the Illinois government has delayed a gas tax until after the upcoming election. The powers-that-be in the state including Governor JB Pritzker were going to slap residents with a 2.2-cent-per-gallon tax on July 1. They have now postponed it until January 2023 after the midterm elections, according to Fox News.
“As of July 1, 2022, the State of Illinois has suspended the inflation adjustment to the motor fuel tax through December 31, 2022. The price on this pump should reflect the suspension of the tax increase,” the stickers state.
Grocery stores are also required to post a note on receipts “to the extent feasible” that the state has suspended the 1 percent grocery tax for a year. The message on the receipts must state, “From July 1, 2022 through July 1, 2023, the State of Illinois sales tax on groceries is 0%.”
