And if we have a 1929 type crash, you’ll have an office building to jump out of wink777

Gaetz and Bobert?  Shit, why didn't MTG just show up and call it the 3 stooges.

Trump needs to have sane GOP folks like Johnson, Cruz, RDS, et.al  show up to this trial for support, rather than the fringe.

I'm not going to fault them over this. Social distancing works for colds why not covid? It was the beginning of covid and no one knew what we were dealing with
Hindsight is always 2020 and easy to go back and criticize.

It doesn't take a genius to understand that transmission takes place more easily with contact or close proximity, especially in confined spaces. I know two people who got Covid after 20 minutes or so in a car with a person in a non-symptomatic stage of Covid, myself being one. Maybe 5 feet would have been proved adequate if tested, or maybe 6 feet was too close.  Common sense and experience still demonstrate that untested does not prove distance is irrelevant. As gotchas go, this one is gnat-straining.

Fico doesn't like Ukraine's Zelenskyy, so the media call him "Pro Putin."  I think that might be a bit of a leap.

Briefers do the same here, when any of us speak ill of Zellinskyyyyyyyyyyyy

‘Sharp Increase’: More Than 100K Police Officers Attacked on the Job in Two Years

OLIVIA RONDEAU15 May 2024214

More than 100,000 law enforcement officers have been attacked on the job in the last two years, and more were killed in the last three years compared to any other period within the last 20 years, FBI statistics show.

A shocking 194 officers were feloniously killed between 2021 and 2023 — more than in any other consecutive three-year period in the past two decades — a special report that the FBI released on Tuesday revealed.

Law enforcement agencies around the country reported to the bureau that a total of 79,091 officers were assaulted in 2023, marking the highest officer assault rate in the past decade.

The top two most common circumstances during which these assaults occurred were when cops responded to simple assaults against non-officers and when cops responded to drug violations.

Bullhockey.

The "American Rescue Plan Act of 2021", which was the third Covid stimulus bill, threw 1.9 trillion in cash into the economy, and was passed and signed by Biden in March 2021.  One consequence of that was turbo-charging inflation. So for Biden to blame the underlying condition entirely on Trump is disingenuous as hell.  However....

Back in December 2020, Trump himself pushed Congress to pass a massive stimulus bill in December 2020 that would have included $2000 stimulus checks, but McConnell opposed it as too expensive and killed it. So sure, we can and should blame Biden.  The problem is that Trump wanted to pass a bill even bigger than the one Biden eventually passed, so Trump has no room to talk in terms of blaming Biden for inflation.  Here's Trump slamming McConnell for not approving that larger stimulus bill in December 2020:

And here's NANCY PELOSI agreeing with Trump pushing for the larger bill and demanding that GOP leadership get it done:

Yup

Both Trump and Biden share part of the blame equally on inflation

And some still wonder why some of us refuse to vote for more of that

District Attorney Pamela Price Faces Recall in November

Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price could be getting the boot in November. The prosecutor, known for her lenient approach to violent crime, is set to face a recall vote later this month.

The recall effort has gained momentum over the past year due to her policies, which seem to prioritize protecting violent criminals instead of the people they harm. The outcry from the community has been fierce, which could spell trouble for the embattled DA.

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors selected the November general election for the date when voters will decide whether to recall Democratic District Attorney Pamela Price.

The board of supervisors voted 3-0 during a meeting on Tuesday to set the recall vote for Nov. 5 rather than a special election after the recall effort was confirmed during a previous meeting.
