Barack and Michelle Obama Buying Mega-Mansion in Martha's Vineyard
Barack and Michelle Obama Locking Down Incredible Martha's Vineyard Estate!!!
8/22/2019 12:01 AM PT
Barack and Michelle Obama may soon become Kennedy adjacent because we've learned they're in escrow for a remarkable, mega-expensive, Martha's Vineyard estate.
Multiple island sources tell us the Obamas are in escrow for the estate owned by Boston Celtics owner, Wyc Grousbeck. The former Prez and First Lady have been renting the house this summer and loved it so much, we've learned they made an offer. The property is listed at $14,850,000. Our sources say they're paying less, but we don't know how much.
The estate -- incredible. It's 29 beachfront acres. The main residence is just shy of 6,900 square feet. It has 7 bedrooms, so Sasha and Malia have a place to crash, along with several of their friends. It has the obligatory pool, an outdoor fireplace, a chef's kitchen, vaulted ceilings and 2 guest wings. It has incredible views, especially while soaking in the second-floor balcony Jacuzzi.

Do they still have their mansion in Chicago, too?
Correct me if I'm incorrect, but I think the most recent Dem President to have taken "vacations" to their homes rather than jet-setting, and then "retired" to that home was Carter. I don't recall Clinton spending overmuch time in Arkansas, nor Obama in Chicago. Contrast that with Reagan, Bush, and Bush (two had/have ranches, and I think Bush I had property at Kennebunkport).

I was thinking they looted the Treasury. I know we taxpayers footed many an exotic vacation for them, their family and their entourages.

The interior is all white and very bland in my opinion

I often wonder if the leftwing rank & file ever notice that their political white hats always ride into DC as commoners yet retire lousy with wealth.

People think these politicians care about them. I hear black people in my little distressed town talk about the Obamas as heroes and saviors. The Obamas never cared a hoot about them. Seems to me neither of those two grifters had to worry where their next meal came from. I know Barrack had a lot of things handed to him, including his Harvard education. And after coming to Washington, he and his wife really made out like bandits. But then again, it seems all politicians do. And after they leave office, there is always something else they can do if the coffers are depleted to bring in the cash.

The hoi poloi increasingly pin their hopes & dreams on elected officials, but politics is just another way to make a living.
Being a socialist or justice warrior politician is a very, very lucrative way to make a living. The Obamas might once again ponder the plight of the poor and oppressed but it will be after tennis lessons, poolside.

I would have said, "There goes the neighborhood," but the Kennedys already live there, so ...

Isn't Jackie O's estate up for sale...thought I read that Caroline was selling it.

The pictures I've see of Martha's Vineyard are beautiful and I once thought I would love to see it. I'll bet the natives are ecstatic.

The closest I ever got to MV was on a puddlejumper flight (14 psgr plane, give or take) from Nantucket to Boston, which stopped at MV to pick up ... wait for it ... James Taylor!

Bland??? I love white. I think it makes a home look clean and very spacious. This home is absolutely gorgeous!! The ocean view is unbelievable. Looks like the Bammy's are finally moving up in life!

Even the Kennedy neighborhood can go a little more downhill....

It's their version of a dee-luxe apartment in the sky.

Yeah, hit that place with a solid storm surge from one of those New England Hurricanes, and they'll be back in Chi-town.

You may love it but the Obamas don't.

Don't worry, they'll redecorate.

I do too but not in every room....I love using color and different patterns..
-
I recently perused a home decor magazine featuring an all-white house and it really needed something to break up the monotony. I like the clean look of white, but with occasional contrast (chiaroscuro, and all that).

If they only stayed all the time on that island, I would be happy as they would surrounded by their like-minded neighbors. Unfortunately, they will continue to exude their destructive ways in other places.

I love pure white walls, with bright white trim. You can put any accent color and any pattern. My next fave is light grey walls with white trim ... again you can put any accent color and any pattern.
Admit though, the white couch and white lamps don't accent well.

We have 6 months of white outside, some years. A little (subdued) color inside is just fine.

Guess they are not too worried about climate change causing the oceans to rise.

A little storm like the one in 1944 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1944_Great_Atlantic_hurricane) could clean the place up. Back to Nature....
-
Well I see the Obama's are really worried about that globull warming crap they they were shoveling on the ignorant masses, what with their buying beachfront property.
-
So when will antifa, occupy wall st. and the rest of the anarchists and loons descent on Hussein's MV home to protest one percenters?
-
Book sales must be through the roof.

Not to mention difficult to keep clean. Of course, I don't expect the Obamas will have to worry about cleaning. They have "people" tio do that for them.

I would imagine this place is like Al Snore's: Not at all "climate friendly." You can bet they aren't setting the thermostats to 85 degrees in summer and 60 degrees in winter. You can be sure this estate gobbles up plenty of fossil fuels. These people are exempt from those enviro-friendly measures they want to impose on the rest of us

Thank you for teaching me a new word and broadening my horizons. I love the work of some of the artists that used it, but never knew what it was called.

Book sales must be through the roof.
Michelle's book "Becoming" is a #1 NY Times Bestseller. She was advanced $60 million for her book and it is projected to be the best selling memoir in history. She has written others and Barrack has written a few himself. They have an estimated net worth of around $135 million. Certainly much wealthier than when they first entered the White House.
He also receives a 6 figure pension. The money that they receive from speaking engagements, book signings and appearances is staggering.

And no one ever deserved success less. Zero and Mooch are fabulously wealthy after eight years of attempting to take down our republic.

Yes, and just like Ted Kennedy, they'll NIMBY offshore windmills.

OTOH, I haven't heard of any Republicans going penniless from their "service" to the country. They've been doing ok at the pig trough.
-
I never thought I'd miss a Kennedy, but I sure wish JFK Jr. was still around to fly the 0bamas back and forth to the mainland.

It's is Oprah's money. She can spend it where she wants.

Whatever anyone here thinks, the day JFK died, this country died.

JFK the father, yes. Junior? He was a dimbulb who thought the family fortunes made him immune to death, so he went flying in bad weather, even though he was an inexperienced and crappy pilot. He ended up killing not only himself, but 2 others as well. Seems to be a pattern with the Kennedys. They make bad decisions and someone ends up dead.
-

That does seem to be the turning point.
