Title: Latest Models Suggesting Coronavirus Resurgence Upon Reopening of America Collapse
Post by: mystery-ak on April 11, 2020, 01:23:22 am
Matthew Boyle 10 Apr 2020 Washington, D.C.

As President Donald Trump and the White House’s Coronavirus Task Force begin to consider reopening the United States upon the collapse of a variety of models that predicted wide-scale deaths due to the disease, the New York Times published a leaked document on Friday afternoon that suggested, should the mitigation measures relax, the outbreak would be worse than before.

According to the Times, the document–an internal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) model–shows that lifting mitigation measures “after just 30 days will lead to a dramatic infection spike this summer and death tolls that would rival doing nothing.”

The Times writes, describing the documents it published:

Quote
The models use three scenarios. The first has policymakers doing nothing to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. The second, labeled ‘steady state,’ assumes schools remain closed until summer, 25 percent of Americans telework from home, and some social distancing continues. The third scenario includes a 30-day shelter in place, on top of those ‘steady state’ restrictions.

Oh, FFS  They're going pull out that 1.2 million dead number in perpetuity.   **nononono*

If I were Trump I would direct Pence, Fauci, Birx, the SG to provide all data to three or more separate "model" teams.

They would be instructed to optimize life and economic results.

While social life in Europe and much of the U.S. now centers on the home after governments imposed increasingly drastic curbs on freedom of movement, Sweden left offices and stores open, issued recommendations rather than restrictions, and waited to see what happens.

Businesses, kindergartens and schools remain open. After a long winter, Stockholm’s street cafés and outdoor bars swelled with people over the weekend, and the city’s old town drew large crowds as locals ventured out to enjoy the good weather. The only mandatory changes are a ban on meetings of more than 50 people and an order forcing bars and restaurants to only serve seated customers so as to avoid overcrowding.

Something isn't right, Sweden hasn't exploded it's economy or restricted its people and they aren't seeing anything near the infections or deaths percentage wise. Maybe the epidemiologists that say living normal lives and building the herd immunity would have put us over the hump in weeks. Why when Dr. Fauci didn't see a need to go medieval on the nation during the swine flu did he recommend it now? Why didn't we close America for the last three pandemics but closed it now?

@GtHawk

I’ve been asking that since the very beginning (asked rhetorically, since I know what the answer is).

There are reports that he is an ardent Hillary Clinton supporter. I would hope that a professional like he is would not allow politics to cloud his judgment, but alas, we've seen Democrats far more pessimistic on the medical side of things than Republicans.

The Blarin' Karens (no offense to people actually named Karen) will scream bloody murder when this is all over, because they won't admit it's over and will be awaiting the second wave.

It won't be as effective next time if we keep deaths down to 5 figures.  Few Americans want this to continue longer than needed.
