Last night Tropical Storm Karen whipped through New Orleans like a freight train, leaving unprecedented devastation in her wake.

A branch was mercilessly ripped off a tree Uptown, scarring this neatly kept lawn.

In Mid City a car window was left open, dampening the upholstery and soaking the owners pants when he sat down.

We need trailers, quick!

You would not believe the fields and fields of rotting trailers still all over the place down there. It is disgusting what a waste it is. Occasionally the government auctions them off but most aren't moving due to red tape. I've often wondered whose land all of these are sitting on.  Fields and fields and fields of these, all rotting.

Examples of government inefficiency abound. I see it every time I'm stuck in traffic on the BQE, Belt Parkway or Staten Island Expressway where road crews are in their second decade of Reconstruction. I'm quite certain that my children's children will see construction traffic delays on these very same roads in the year 2045! A government contract is a beautiful thing...for job security.
