Just a fun little poll. Do you think Justify will be the next horse since American Pharoh took the crown in 2015 and join the 12 horses who are/were Triple Crown winners?
-
Hope not. Soros owns the horse

A possibly Soros related company owns 15% of the horse.

Why are you such a slave to facts, @Sanguine? Must you bring them into every thread of hyperbole?

No worries. I woke up this morning to "I got a horse right here, his name is Paul Revere".....
Now that's stuck in my head! Can Do! :silly:

I have fond childhood memories of my mom singing that song whilst she was baking.

I think Justify will join the myriad of other horses who have won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness but lose out in the Belmont. This last race is so grueling. It weeds out the men from the boys, so to speak.
-
Absolutely should be the favorite.
Will probably win going away.
"It's in the genes, Charlie! ...got the Champion genes...horse has nuthin' to do with it!!" ..... Paulie, The Pope of Greenwich Village

I know, I know.

I am guessing yes. The main reason is that the conditions that are known to have caused havoc with previous two-out-of-three Triple Crown winners at the Belmont (the muddy track, for one) were already present at the Derby and Preakness this year, and Justify came out on top. He has a better chance at it than most that have failed before him. Endurance is going to be the key, as usual.

At the risk of being a contrarian...I'll be surprised if he wins. He appears to be a superior mud track runner. The weather at Belmont is clear today. He may not be as driven. I have a friend that owns race horses. He had a big grey horse several years ago that couldn't be beat on a mud track. We decided that he didn't like mud in his face....on a fast track he just ambled along.
Plus he drew the rail. Not good. There will be a conspiracy to keep him there, imho. We'll see how good of a job the jock does.

Justify doesn't even look like he's working hard.
-
And - he did it!
-
Triple crown?
-

Yay! Wonder horse!
-
Triple crown?
Triple Crown! He's the 13th horse to do that..
-
Both the jockey and the owner thanked G-d. Very nice.

Beautiful horse.

Meanwhile Justify is like, "What the heck is this Triple Crown thing? Can I just get some hay and oats, here? I'm starving!"
-
Think of all the money he’ll get now from stud fees.....

I don’t think it’s the money he’s thinking of. :smokin:

I must now bow to the master....you called it. Good race...he wasn't even lathered.

I know that @Oceander
I was just thinking what a nice life this horse will have now. Lots of horse pampering. And lady horses !
He’s a very handsome horse. But secretariat will always be my favorite horse. And Mr. Ed too

I understand the jockey was the oldest jockey to ever win the Kentucky Derby. 56 years old. What a great win for him!

How much did he/she weigh?

My mind played a trick and I read that as jockey and horse...and did a mental double-take!
