Special Prosecutor Appoints Himself to Replace Fani Willis on Trump Case After ‘Inability’ to Find Anyone Else

Olivia Rondeau 14 Nov 2025

The man tasked with finding a replacement for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) on the Georgia election interference case against President Donald Trump was forced to appoint himself as special prosecutor, citing an “inability” to find anyone else to accept the job.

Georgia’s Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council (PAC) executive director, Peter Skandalakis, announced that he would take over the case on Friday, which was the deadline for the council to either pick a new prosecutor or potentially see the case be dismissed, the Hill reported.

“Several prosecutors were contacted and, while all were respectful and professional, each declined the appointment,” Skandalakis said in a statement obtained by the outlet. “Out of respect for their privacy and professional discretion, I will not identify those prosecutors or disclose their reasons for declining.”

Acknowledging that it “would have been simple” to just allow the deadline to pass since no one wanted to prosecute the case, he said he did “not believe that was the right course of action.”

“My only objective is to ensure that this case is handled properly, fairly, and with full transparency discharging my duties without fear, favor, or affection,” he stated.

Prosecutor Appoints Himself To Fani Willis’ Election Case After Failing To Find A Single Lawyer Willing To Revive It
Story by Katelynn Richardson • 21h

After failing to find an attorney willing to take up Fulton County Fani Willis’ troubled 2020 election case, the prosecutor conducting the search for her replacement appointed himself.

The Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia (PACGA) faced a Nov. 14 deadline to select a new attorney or have the case dismissed.

“The filing of this appointment reflects my inability to secure another conflict prosecutor to assume responsibility for this case,” PACGA Executive Director Peter Skanadlakis wrote. “Several prosecutors were contacted and, while all were respectful and professional, each declined the appointment. Out of respect for their privacy and professional discretion, I will not identify those prosecutors or disclose their reasons for declining.”

I don't know what their stated reasons were, but the real reasons were probably:

1.  Fear of being called racist

2.  Fear of Media backlash

3.  Hyenas don't devour their own kind

I think this is her original 2020 election case against Trump and his lawyers.  Nobody wants to touch it with a ten-foot-pole now but still this prosecutor wants to keep the case alive for some reason.

Georgia Judge Drops Three Of Trump’s Charges In Election Interference Case

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee dismissed three charges Friday in Georgia’s sweeping election-interference case against President Donald Trump.

McAfee tossed Counts 14, 15 and 27 after ruling that Georgia lacked the authority to pursue those alleged false-document offenses, two of which targeted Trump, CBS News reported. He signaled months earlier that the counts were legally flawed but could not formally strike them until the case returned to him after Fani Willis’ removal.

In the same order, McAfee rejected the defendants’ broader constitutional challenges, including arguments invoking the Supremacy Clause, ensuring that only the three counts were eliminated. The judge previously scrapped six charges in March 2024, three of which targeted Trump.
