Title: Interferon Beta reduced risk of severe Covid by 80%

A legacy of the coronavirus pandemic is the dawn of new ways to stop viruses. Here’s another new (old) one — it’s only a small trial, but if it can stop 4 out of 5 people developing the severe form of the disease it will be a gamechanger. If this gets similar numbers on larger trials, then we still need mass production. But national policies will swing on a dime if a safe drug with this much potential appears.

After Coronavirus we might not be so content to accept the annual seasonal virus scourge.

Breakthrough’ treatment slashes virus death risk: study (https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-07-breakthrough-treatment-slashes-virus-death.html)

by Patrick Galey, MedicalXpress

In a randomised trial of 100 patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19, those who received an inhaled formula of the protein interferon beta were at 79 percent lower risk of developing severe disease compared to those who received a placebo.

They were also more than twice as likely to make a full recovery compared with the control group.

The firm behind the treatment, known as SNG001, said the preliminary results suggested “a major breakthrough” in the pandemic.

Interferon beta is a natural cytokine — our bodies produce it during infections, and some think that older people are just not producing enough of it.  We may be just replacing something that was meant to be there, or indeed we might be replacing something that the virus has suppressed (https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-05-university-led-covid19-drug-trial-home.html).

Interferon beta is a naturally occurring protein, which orchestrates the body’s antiviral responses. There is evidence that deficiency in IFN-beta production by the lung could explain the enhanced susceptibility of these at-risk patient groups to developing severe lower respiratory tract (lung) disease during respiratory viral infections. Furthermore, viruses, including coronaviruses such as SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV, have evolved mechanisms which suppress endogenous IFN-beta production, thereby helping the virus evade the innate immune system.

Interferon beta is also used to treat Hep C and MS.  I think this sounds very promising.

Of 5126 cases in ND, only 305 were hospitalized (6%). Stopping 4 out of 5 is a low bar, and Zelenko had much better results with HCQ/Azithromycin/Zinc Sulfate given at early onset, and his reported success was similar with other researchers who administered the regimen early in the disease. (Not the retracted Lancet and nejm studies which were flawed and claimed no benefit.)

Whatever means are used, stopping the virus from replicating before it gets an extensive infection going, (early onset) is the game changer.

Only two people were able to produce anything resembling that, Zelenko and that that guy from France. Zelenko was in cahoots with known fraudster Jerome Corsi and the French guy's methodology was roundly scrutinized and rejected by anyone who knew what they were doing. Of course Zelenko was able to claim "much better results" because he was lying! Most other evidence has shown no difference between that regimen and HCQ alone. (The evidence for the efficacy of HCQ has been mixed, even without the "studies" that used dubious data.)

Azithromycin has no appreciable impact on a virus because it's an antibiotic. There are anti-inflammatory drugs that have been proven far more effective (e.g. dexamethasone). As for zinc, there's no evidence of it. It's simply a scheme to sell zinc supplements.

The antibiotic is for with the lung infection (bacteria )  that comes with the VIRUS.  ZINC has been shown to help, as it allows medication to penetrate the 'wall' of the virus, (or our cells)  to help with healing. I am not a doctor, but I remember things.  My personal regime, is homemade chicken soup, Elderberry tincture, green tea, Zinc, silver.  As soon as I am better, I will put some moringa in capsules to take. All improve immune system.

Corona virus is a respiratory virus, how it is transmitted, anyway.
COPD patients for years have been given Azithromycin, zinc, and Steroids to ease/reduce flare-ups.
Having had it for 10 years, I know this to be a fact.
I ran a course of this in January/February.

Azithomycin is just in case a bacteria is causing the infection.
Zinc, for obvious reasons, it cuts down the severity of that other well known virus in the coronavirus family, the cold virus.
Steroids to help the lung function during the recovery.

The benefits of Hydroxychloroquine have now been proven to be an effective treatment, used early on, in a study done by the Ford Foundation.
