LANSING, Mich. — A Michigan state representative was found dead from an apparent suicide Tuesday, hours after he was released from jail after an arrest a day earlier for suspected drunken driving, officials said.

On Tuesday, police were outside a Lansing, Mich., home that records show is owned by Rep. John Kivela, 47, a Democrat from Marquette, Mich., in the state's upper peninsula.

Kivela's manner of death was not released.

As the news began to trickle through the Michigan Legislature, the House took on a hushed and somber tone as lawmakers embraced and shed tears.

I'm as guilty as anyone, I check his party affiliation but that really doesn't matter. It's sad someone would do this and party does not matter.

Kivela was arrested on November 9, 2015, for driving under the influence of alcohol. He released a statement apologizing to his family and constituents, saying that he would seek treatment for a longstanding alcohol dependence.

This is a good trend. If a politician gets caught lying, they kill themselves. This should straighten out the country in a month or two.

BTW Michigan. Don't bother filling this seat. Your population is dwindling so fast that there will be no need for a replacement.
