Elon Musk to drop Twitter files on NY Post-Hunter Biden laptop censor today By Emily Crane December 2, 2022 4:16pm
Elon Musk says he will release details on Friday afternoon about Twitter’s decision to censor The Post’s scoop about Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop.
“What really happened with the Hunter Biden story suppression by Twitter will be published on Twitter at 5pm ET!” the new CEO tweeted.
“This will be awesome,” he added in a separate tweet alongside a popcorn emoji.
The world’s richest man, who purchased Twitter last month, has previously insisted full disclosure was needed to determine why the company decided to block the bombshell report about President Biden’s son in the weeks leading up to the 2020 election.
The 51-year-old, who has vowed to turn Twitter into a bastion of free speech, had been teasing the release of the internal files for several days, arguing the “public deserves to know what really happened.”
“This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead,” he tweeted Monday after vowing the files would “soon to be published on Twitter itself.”

Geeezzz.... In the back of my mind I can clearly picture that oft used "plausible deniability" discussion between Gadde/Dorsey.
No way in hell Dorsey was not knowledgeable of this event. And I hope he has to say so, on the stand.

Tonight we learned that there is ironclad 100% proof that 2020 election was stolen.
Biggest breaking political corruption story in my lifetime of watching politics (55 years) and the entire left leaning MSM goes silent.
Tells me that the that the scandal is much wider and deeper than Twitter alone.

Chris Plante on his radio show says the greatest power the media has is the power to ignore. And unfortunately, the media is monolithic in it’s opposition to the Right, so Republicans haven’t a prayer of ever coming to power again until we have an honest media. And I don’t see that ever happening.

As Elon Musk promised, Twitter is releasing internal documents about how and why they suppressed information about Joe Biden’s corruption, as documented on his son’s laptop, in the last weeks of the 2020 campaign. Twitter apparently outsourced the task to liberal (but not crazy) commentator Matt Taibbi. You can follow Taibbi’s thread here.
I will have more to say when it is over, but here are some highlights as we go along.
The Biden campaign communicated directly with Twitter to get objectionable tweets censored:
Remarkably, Twitter locked out the account of White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany because she referred to the (accurate) New York Post story about the laptop. A Trump staffer complained disgustedly:
Earlier this week, Musk's measures to protect free speech on Twitter, including the elimination of its COVID "misinformation policy," were met with a promise by the White House to keep "a close eye" on the social media platform.
The new Twitter owner made it clear he believes the stakes are high.
"This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead," he tweeted Monday.
On Monday night, some Twitter users noticed the platform had dropped its COVID-19 misinformation policy. A post on the "transparency page of Twitter's website said: "Effective November 23, 2022, Twitter is no longer enforcing the COVID-19 misinformation policy."
During the pandemic, many censored or suppressed tweets, labeled "misinformation," expressed viewpoints that are now acknowledged to be true or legitimate arguments, such as the ineffectiveness of masks, lockdowns and vaccines, and the theory that SARS-CoV-2 originated in a lab in Wuhan, China.

Virtually every MSM story is filtered through or sourced from AP. That's why the buzzwords and phrases are all the same in a 15 minute cycle or less.
That is correct, or Reuters or UPI or AFP. It's a direct result of all the MSM news outlets closing their regional and overseas news bureaus and relying solely on those subscription services, which now act as the gatekeepers for the news.

But Musk chose well and in letting him do the hatchet work, and now with Weiss. Elon Musk has slammed journalists who are criticizing Matt Taibbi for releasing documents about Twitter's suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
In a Twitter Spaces call on Saturday, the 51-year-old billionaire said reporters who are smearing Taibbi for revealing how the social media giant took down tweets about Biden's laptop should 'look in the mirror' and confront their own deceitfulness to 'the American people,' saying they were 'not being truthful' about the story.
Taibbi, 52, has faced backlash from journalists — primarily from MSNBC — trashing his ethics and standards since his exposé revealing how Twitter executives were urged by Biden staff to delete tweets relating to the damaging contents of Hunter Biden's laptop.
Many of the tweets disparaging the American author repeated the same themes, claiming he was just doing public relations for the world's richest man and did not understand limitations to the First Amendment, Mediaite reports.
But in his Twitter Spaces call on Saturday, Musk said he has 'read hardly any of the Twitter files' as he is focused on 'just getting Twitter healthy.'
Instead, Musk said, he left it up to Taibbi and journalist Bari Weiss to reveal what they thought the American public should know, according to Mediaite reports, indicating he told the journalists to expose whatever they thought was of public interest.
Then on Friday, Taibbi detailed how Twitter staff discussed censoring a New York Post story about Hunter Biden's laptop, even alluding to requests from Biden's team to do so.
'Twitter took extraordinary steps to suppress the story, removing links and posting warnings that it may be 'unsafe,' Taibbi wrote. 'They even blocked its transmission via direct message, a tool hitherto reserved for extreme cases, e.g. child pornography.'
Notably, in one exchange a Twitter executive emailed another a list of tweets with the instruction, 'More to review from the Biden team.'
The other executive responded: 'handled these'.

A couple of things about Taibbi. He's certainly an urban liberal, like nearly all the other MSM journalists, but he has been mugged repeatedly by his own woke colleagues and thus tempered into something of a centrist, like Bari Weiss. I've followed Taibbi for a long time and he is also more honest than most in his profession, even though he occasionally torques me off when he has a mental tick and momentarily relapses. But Musk chose well and in letting him do the hatchet work, and now with Weiss. That'll make it exceedingly hard for the MSM and Biden regime to knock it down, even though they're already trying very hard in disparaging the Friday night dump.
Musk is a genius. The absolute massive magnitude of this epic scandal will have 100X the credibility if it is not delivered by a conservative. Can you imagine Levin dropping this bombshell? Ears would seize up and ignore at the absolute onset

Elon Musk said that Twitter's former Deputy General Counsel Jim Baker was "exited" from the company on Tuesday after revelations about his role in the platform's handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
Baker was involved in discussions about whether the laptop falls under Twitter's "hacked materials" policy.
"I support the conclusion that we need more facts to assess whether the materials were hacked," Baker wrote in one email chain. "At this stage, however, it's reasonable for us to assume that they may have been and that caution is warranted."
Baker was responding to a Twitter executive who was wondering whether they could "truthfully claim" that the laptop story was "part of the policy."
Before joining Twitter, Baker worked as general counsel at the FBI, where he was involved in the bureau's investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Taibbi said Tuesday that he and another journalist, Bari Weiss, were dealing "with obstacles to new searches" when Weiss discovered that Baker was responsible for releasing the files over the weekend.
"The news that Baker was reviewing the 'Twitter files' surprised everyone involved, to say the least," Taibbi
Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told "Fox & Friends First" on Monday that the House Oversight Committee will likely call Baker and other Twitter executives to testify about their handling of the laptop story.
"Baker and [former Twitter executive] Vijaya Gadde are probably the two most high-profile Twitter employees that we want to hear from," Comer said. "My advice to them is, prior to coming before the Oversight Committee in January or February, as quick as we can get them in front of the oversight committee, is they need to look very hard to try to find evidence as to why they suppressed this story."
Baker could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday.

Naturally, he left that post to take a high-paying job as chief counsel for Twitter because government hacks who toe the line always have a path to the private sector.
It appears that Baker was trying to mitigate the damage of the “Twitter Files” with some kind of attempted cover-up. It appears that Baker was trying to mitigate the damage of the “Twitter Files” with some kind of attempted cover-up. According to Musk, his explanation wasn’t satisfactory, and that led to his ouster. With Baker gone, the release of the files should now continue unabated. I have a feeling Weiss is going to produce something really good with her research.
When I was at work, my company kept three tiers of Server Backup in the day.... Daily, Quarterly, and Annually.
Is there any chance of pulling an archive of what Baker might have scrubbed?

Email? Shit yeah. As you described. It's backed up and archived for legal purposes. Office 365 Admin here, not sure what they use for email at Twitter.

The bigger question re. Baker is: was he able to permanently destroy data, or is it just a matter of recovering additional copies of what he "scrubbed" and then of having it reviewed by Taibbi and Weis?

In his case, it probably boiled down to a choice of Company Theft v. Treasonous proof of Collusion of Big Tech and Government influencing the outcome of a POTUS election.
He chose the better option, but might not get away with it.

That's a good question. I am not a lawyer, but as far as jurisdictional enforcement, I think a lot has to do with location, and whether the dirty deed transveresed state lines.
We would probably be screwed either way with CA AG office, or Garland's DOJ.
Probably a good reason why most of Big Tech locates itself in CA.
