Title: Hollywood fundraises for Texas abortions with ‘Night of a Thousand Vaginas!’
Post by: Cincinnatus on January 15, 2014, 07:12:02 am
The title is quite catchy, no? Actually it's an overstatement since this involves only a handful of prodeath celebrities, some of whom I have never heard of and others, like Sarah Silverman, I find completely offensive even without her adding this to her resume.

Quote
Comedians Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis and others are scheduled to appear for an evening of comedy and music Sunday to raise funds for Texas abortions.

The event, titled “A Night of A Thousand Vaginas!” will take place at the Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles and is being billed as an “emergency benefit to help Texas women” who have been affected by Texas’ new abortion restrictions passed in the state over the summer.

The evening is set to feature comedians Silverman, Galifianakis, Steve Agee, Jen Kirkman, Tiffany Haddish, and musician Josh Homme of the Queens of the Stone Age. Laura Kightlinger and Retta are expected to host.

The reproductive rights group “A Is For” — a relatively new organization that describes its mission as to serve as “an ally and advocate for organizations working to protect reproductive rights; we are a unifying forum utilizing social media to spotlight issues and encourage activism” — is putting on the event.

“A is For is organizing this emergency benefit to raise money for Texas abortion funds (Lilith Fund, TEA Fund, Whole Women’s Health Action Fund, and Fund Texas Women) who are working to help women affected by this law by providing financial support to help cover procedures, travel, lodging and child care,” A is For wrote in its description of the purpose of the vagina night.

Tickets are now sold out but they ranged in price from $60 – $100.

Texas has been at the center of an abortion fight since the summer when the state legislature passed a number of abortion restrictions, some of which pro-choice activists have been challenging in the courts.

Glenn Beck nailed this.

He described raising money to kill babies as "evil."

There is no other word for these vile death-mongers.

Odd how they are not doing it in Texas.

SXSW is in 6 weeks and would  be a perfect venue - or so you'd think.

The media has been making a big deal of her collecting 12 million to Abbott collecting 11 million.  They have purposely skewed this.  The money she's collected took her six months to collect and Abbott collected his 11 million in three months.... But as Beck said the liberal progressives are hell-bent to turn Texas into a progressive utopia and they are going to pour money into this campaign.  He also pointed out this is what amnesty is about - they want those votes to turn Texas blue.

That picture describes liberal logic 101. It's one thing for women to kill their babies, and quite another for others to have a fundraiser so women can kill their babies. Even those who genuinely pro choice, meaning they won't kill their own, but it's ok for others, are sickened that it is promoted as though we were feeding the poor. Instead, we are killing them.

Hollweirdos need issues. It makes them feel important and look human. They will have telethons and beg money from us for  their current pet issue, but you can bet your arse, they would never associate with the people they profess to care about.

Most won't. There are the odd exception. Jim Carrey, for example (a very odd exception). Hangs out with the homeless and the drug broken.

Like Ashley Judd campaigning against Sarah Palin over her program to cull too many wolves in Alaska and then going to DC and marching for abortion.

I was arguing with one idiot liberal on the local news site about the Abbott and Abortion Barbie fundraising.

He is convinced that she will win because "every woman" is sick and tired of Republicans trying to control their bodies.  I told him that there are millions of women who are anti-abortion, and he said then they're not real women.  Real women support "reproductive rights."

It's too bad men don't get involved and refused to be part of women's reproduction! They can't reproduce by themselves. We need men's rights!

The media has been making a big deal of her collecting 12 million to Abbott collecting 11 million.  They have purposely skewed this.

Quote
Wendy Davis has two million-dollar donors

Quote
State Sen. Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth, has reported two million-dollar donors to her campaign for governor: Austinite Carolyn Oliver and Houston’s Mostyn Law Firm.

Oliver, a retired physician and philanthropist, gave $1 million to the Davis campaign as well as $1 million to Battleground Texas, the group that is working cooperatively with the Davis campaign to turn Texas blue by building the state Democratic Party’s grassroots apparatus.

Oliver’s contribution to Battleground Texas constituted more than half of the nearly $1.9 million it raised in the last six months of 2013 for what the organization, in a press release this morning touting its fundraising, described as “a movement to turn the Lone Star State into a political battleground and help elect Texas Democrats like Wendy Davis and Leticia Van de Putte.” Van de Putte, a state senator from San Antonio, is running for lieutenant governor.

The press released continued, “The strong fundraising numbers underscore the breadth and depth of support that Battleground Texas has built in the 10 months since its launch last February. During this reporting period, 4,470 people contributed to the effort, most of whom were low-dollar donors. Nearly 80% of the donations were raised from Texans and 96% of the donations were made online at Battlegroundtexas.com. The average online contribution was $47.”

Battleground Texas did not mention its notably generous high-dollar donor.

The Mostyns — Steve and Amber — are among the biggest givers to Democratic causes in Texas and nationally. Their donation was an important milestone for Battleground Texas in its start-up phase. Their New Year’s Eve donation of $1 million to the Texas Victory Committee — a joint venture between the Davis campaign and Battleground Texas — was probably calculated to get the Davis campaign right where it needed to be vis-a-vis the campaign of Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott in the intense competition to show good numbers for the reporting period that ended with the turning of the new year. (The Mostyns gave an additional $5,000 to Battleground Texas, and also, in an in-kind contribution, gave Davis the use of the firm’s plane for travel around the state.)

The Davis campaign was able to boast that, couting the money collected by the Texas Victory Committee, it had out-raised Abbott — $12.2 million to $11.6 million. The Abbott campaign countered that the joint venture with Battleground Texas ought not to be counted toward her total, which would place them out front in the dollar race. Abbott had nearly three times as much money as Davis in the bank going into 2014.

The Mostyn contribution constituted 28 percent of the Texas Victory Committee’s haul, and, without the Mostyns and Oliver, the Davis camp would have clearly lost the fundraising competition with Abbott.

Seeing how nearly all of Abortion Barbie's fund raising events take place outside of Texas, I seriously doubt she got 80% from people inside the state.  They're playing fast and loose with the numbers.

Also, it took her 6 months to raise 12 million.  It took Abbott 3 months to raise 11.

Perry has been outspent by the Democrats in nearly every campaign, and in all of them, he still blew the Democrats out of the water.
