Do you know more about the news than the average American?
Test your knowledge of prominent people and major events in the news, by taking our short 13-question quiz. Then see how you did in comparison with 1,041 randomly sampled adults asked the same questions in a national survey conducted online Jan. 18-24 by the Pew Research Center. The new survey includes a mixture of multiple-choice questions using photographs, maps and symbols.
When you finish, you will be able to compare your News IQ with the average American, as well as with the scores of college graduates and those who didn’t attend college; with men and women; and with people your age as well as other ages.

Is fun.
I got 12/13 'cause I missed the one about a corporate symbol. 8888crybaby Actually, didn't care then, don't care now.
Good luck.

Oh, I should have mentioned that our beloved Leader is offering a prize to the first person who can honestly say she or he got 13/13.
So go ahead, Mystery, tell them what they've won.
-
I received 12 out of 13. Guess I need to look at my middle-east map more closely.

my results....11 of 13.
Guessed at the blue bird and the currency symbol.
-
I can honestly report 13 of 13.

Looking at the results, 65+ test takers fare worst on the Euro symbol and the Twitter logo.

That 'splains it. I'm pushing 67....in fact, I can see it from here.
PS: I was going to guess Euro, but clicked yen. LOL!
And I thought the blue bird was Jet Blue. ....and Jet Blue should buy it from whoever has it.

Don't laugh, Rap......at least I knew where Egypt was. :tongue2:
 just teasing!
-
:pondering: Not to be unduly critical but you folks, especially Truth Seeker and DCPatriot, are giving away some of the answers.
I believe this may cause Mystery to withdraw her very kind offer of a prize but I don't know for sure.
-
Whoo-Hoo!
"You answered 13 of 13 questions correctly along with 8% of responders."
I got 13 out of 13!

Hey....they should read the article (take the quiz) before reading the replies. LOL!
Maybe should you put a "[spoiler]" warning in the subject line? :patriot:

Oh, I knew where Egypt is.... just not another country "over there"

Same score as you. Same question wrong as you.
-
13 out of 13! Made some lucky guesses, tho'
-
100% and I'm pushing 65.
-
You answered 11 of 13 questions correctly along with 13% of responders.
Guess I am ready to learn.

It helps when you have been to most of them.
BTW, from what I can tell of the results, my long held beliefs are in fact true.
Boys are just naturally smarter than girls. [ducking...]
-
Maybe us "13 out of 13ers" should start our own little Mensa Club here at The Briefing Room?

Hey! As a girl, I resemble that remark!

Mornin' Alice. I guess all that pot smoke didn't make us stupid yet.
It hasn't made me want to kill my cat or jump off my balcony either. I must have some bad stuff...lol

Good morning to you 240B - I'm having a pretty good morning myself, listening to some Marvin Gaye before I head out to work. Glad to hear you don't want to kill your cat - don't want to get ahold of that stuff.
***cool cat***

Got to admit, had to guess one of the picture questions.

Sorry you must work on such a lovely day. I'll be right back at it on Monday. Back on the endless treadmill. But it is fun. Working is better than no working, for me at least.
I'll have to listen to some Marvin, now that you have given me that earbug. lol
I'll talk to you later on when you get back.

This is in honor of Alice's workday. Wishing it is pleasant and profitable.

Not Marvin, but excellent.

I was just listening to that song a few minutes ago! Yes, excellent. I have a Marvin Gaye channel on Pandora that I LOVE! Man, I wish that Motown music would come back - I've hated Rap from day one! Thanks 240B.
It sucks working on Saturday, but when you have a business - that is usually the busiest day. I would rather stay home and work in the garden - of course, I can do that tomorrow on my day off - right?
They're predicting thunderstorms.

I love it! Such a tragic ending for Marvin Gay, he was gifted.

Have some coffee before you leave. Its coffee time for me, now.

Good Morning everyone. Time to get up and do something. Carpe diem.

Feh... That was too easy. 13 out of 13. The down side was that I had to look at Holder, Kerry and Fauxcahantas. I was pleased to see that the majority of people my age got at least 9 of them.
-
Woo hoo, I got 13/13. Had to guess a little on the Middle East map.
-
12/13. I wonder how liberals did? LOL!
-
I had to guess on the currency symbol...but I guessed right...lol
-
The only one I did guess on was the one I got incorrect... won't happen again... I have recommitted the ME map to memory.

I love Gaye. US old darts are not alone with our love of the older tunes. You tube has given a lot of younger people an appreciation of our music. I always like reading their comments on everyone from Elvis to Elton and the old 50's songs. The music industry deems to be run by people like JayS these days and it is all aimed at blacks.. one reason Country remains so popular is it has a heart like the music we grew up on... it is why we can hear a song and flash back to where and what we were doing at the time... I don't think you get that with Rap.
