Harris slams Pence for saying he won't have meetings alone with women
The Hill, Mar 14, 2019
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) on Thursday slammed Vice President Pence for having said he would not dine alone with women, calling it “outrageous.â€
In a brief interview with MSNBC, the 2020 presidential candidate was asked what she thought about Pence.
“I disagree with him when he suggests it’s not possible to have meetings with women alone by himself,†she said. “I think that’s ridiculous — the idea that you would deny a professional woman the opportunity to have a meeting with the vice president of the United States is outrageous.â€
Harris was referring to comments Pence made to The Hill in 2002, in which he said he never eats alone with a woman other than his wife. The comments were later resurfaced by The Washington Post in 2017, sparking a furor.

Nah, it is to legalize prostitution instead. More money to be made for her.
And she knows intimately the profession. Selling the body for the payoff.

I think Pence's position to be admirable, and something to be encouraged.
-
There may be more reasons than one too for his saying that back in 2002. His devotion to his wife is apparent, but a few women have proven dangerous to be around one on one. If you are in politics, you find that out real quick.

Believe me, one does not have to be in politics to have the same problem.
As a supervisor for a business, I would never go behind closed doors with any female one on one. Too dangerous in today's accusatory environment.

Me too. If I was meeting with a man, I always made sure my blinds were pulled up so that anyone passing by my office could easily see into my office. It's a tricky world, and some reasonable caution makes it less so.

Yes ma'am... Many's the time I sat out on the porch waiting for the old man of the house to get home. Just better not to even enter in, and avoid any temptation, but also avoid feeding fuel to waggin tongues...
If everyone was still doing what is proper, these gold diggers would not have a leg to stand on.

Makes it a lot harder to slam someone with false allegations. Prudent in the current political environment, especially with the likes of Harris around.

Prudent as a general rule in life.

Isn't that one reason why people used to name one of their girls Prudence?

Absolutely. My husband has the same policy. He always tells people, "If someone is going to be 'offended' by my actions, it isn't going to be my wife."

Thanks - he's definitely a keeper!

This is pretty hilarious coming from someone who wouldn't be where she is if other men followed that policy...

I guess she really knows what she is talking about.

"Happy Wife" = "Happy Life."

Horizontal Harris is exactly the type of female Pence was talking about avoiding.

Yup. Heels-up Harris.

Ms. Harris is free to have her one-on-one meeting with Harvey Weinstein or Matt Lauer.

Pence should just tell Harris that is because of women like her that he won't take meetings alone with women.

He seems to be a gentleman so he wouldn't.

Apparently, what's good for Willie Brown should be good for Pence as well.

I'm sure it WAS good for Willie Brown. Her politics may be cringeworthy, but she no doubt rocked his world.

In today's world, why would he meet in private with anyone?
