Schiff: Jan. 6 committee mulling subpoenas, testimony from riot participants

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack may quickly move to subpoena some documents and seek testimony from some extremist group leaders who participated in the riot, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told reporters Monday.
“We have already had discussions about the need to subpoena documents and the sense of urgency we have. Normally we would request voluntary compliance. We may move quickly to subpoenas when it comes to documents so that we ensure that they're preserved, and that there's no delay.”
Schiff's comments underscore how House Democrats are banking on the Justice Department to help enforce any subpoenas issued by the select committee as they push forward with an investigation that has been largely boycotted by Republicans.
“Over the last few years, the Justice Department obviously was not willing to enforce any congressional subpoenas. And that was the result of having one of the President's chief enablers as the attorney general in Bill Barr. So it's a different situation now obviously,” said Schiff, one of eight Democrats on the committee.
The committee is scheduled to hold its first hearing Tuesday, when they expect to hear from four officers who defended the Capitol during the Jan. 6 attack.

Thank you very much, Chairman Thompson. Thank you to all of my colleagues on this committee, and thank you to each of the witnesses appearing before us today. It is because of you -- you held the line, you defended all of us, you defended the Capitol, and you defended the Constitution and our Republic, and every American owes you our undying gratitude. Every American, I hope, will be able to hear your testimony today and will watch the videos. The videos show the unbelievable violence and the inexcusable and intolerable cruelty that you all faced, and people need to know the truth.
I want to begin by reflecting briefly on the investigation that we are launching today. Every one of us here on the dais voted for and would have preferred that these matters be investigated by an independent non-partisan commission, composed of five prominent Americans selected by each party, and modeled on the 9/11 Commission. Although such a commission was opposed by my own leadership in the House, it overwhelmingly passed with the support of 35 Republican members, it was defeated by Republicans in the Senate. And that leaves us where we are today.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) became emotional as he reflected on the events of Jan. 6, saying there’s a “difference" between "a crime — even grave crimes — and a coup.”
Kinzinger — an outspoken critic of former President Trump — is one of two Republicans serving on the select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6.
He began by addressing the officers who are testifying, telling them they “won” despite how they may have felt.
“You guys won, you guys held,” Kinzinger said, fighting back tears. “Democracies are not defined by our bad days. We're defined by how we come back from bad days.”

If you pause the clip, where you CAN get a view (It's edited to be as disorienting and unsettling as possible, it heightens the sense of mayhem and panic), you will see backward hats in the vanguard, or no NAGA gear at all (more like black bloc). How many Trump supporters showed up for the speech with a police style shield to break windows with? But ANTIFAs use those pretty often. I'm pretty sure the vanguard of that crew, especially the ones breaking windows for entry were false flag folks, and no doubt there were some U/C FBI and DHS types in there, too, likely goading the crowd into entry.
The Commies got what they wanted, just a few seconds of "scary" "insurrection". (I hope these people don't get anywhere near WalMart on Black Friday when the doors open, they will be mewling balls of protoplasm for the rest of their existence.)
An average day of race riots in my first High School was scarier than that (weapons often in evidence), and I WAS REQUIRED BY LAW TO ATTEND.

Pelosi Shuts Capitol Police Union Out of January 6th Committee

The head of the United States Capitol Police union Gus Papathanasiou on Wednesday urged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to allow more officers to testify to the select committee investigating the events of January 6th, arguing the problems that day were actually “years” in the making — which could reflect poorly on her leadership as House speaker.
“Poor morale, inequitable pay and conditions, and a leadership that refuses to engage – these are contributing factors to the events of January 6th and they remain factors still, today,” he said in a statement. “The Union asks that the Committee listen to the active-duty police officers who have been chosen by the rank and file to represent them.”
However, according to Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks (R-IN), Papathansiou’s and other officers’ voices are being shut out because it does not advance Pelosi’s narrative of a violent insurrection overwhelming heroic police. Banks said in a statement on Wednesday:
At yesterday’s January 6th Select Committee hearing, we only heard Pelosi’s cherry-picked version of events because she shut out any voices that didn’t further her partisan narrative.
One of the voices Democrats rejected was the head of the Capitol Police union, Gus Papathanasiou, who is elected by rank-and-file officers to represent their views. Around 90% of USCP officers belong to the union.

What grieves me is while it was happening and even afterward the denial that his was not what it obviously was, another democrats phony creation to try and seize more government power by deception and false blame shifting. Part of this is also the fanatical relentless constant attacks to get President Trump. It easily shows how fanatical the democrats want to have a tyrannical iron fist socialist rule over America/Americans and never look back. How people can't see this is heavily powered by NeverTrumpers is a mystery, beings as obvious as it is. The deep Staters are everywhere and have quite fanatical lock-steppers and an army of blind useful fool stooges everywhere as well.
Just think many of us warned this was a political set-up/manipulation and it only took 1/2 a year for most to move beyond clueless denials!
