He's correct.  A lot of the protesters don't even know what they are protesting, and seem to be quite proud of their ignorance.

World News / Iran nuclear weapons chatter suddenly radioactive

Apparently setting stage for idea it's no longer 'taboo'

Iranian officials have stepped up their open threats about a coming "nuclear" breakout, apparently in an effort to acclimate the international community to the idea that an Iranian nuclear weapon no longer is "taboo."

A new report from the Middle East Media Research Institute explains the talk has escalated ever since Iran's April 14 drone and missile attack on Israel.

They are coming "against the backdrop of statements by International Atomic Energy Agency director general Rafael Grossi" that the rogue regime is weeks rather than months away from having enough enriched uranium for a bomb.

"Hints, and even warnings, that Iran will be changing its declared nuclear doctrine from civilian to military, and will act to develop nuclear weapons, have come from the following officials: IRGC Brig. Gen. Ahmad Haq Taleb, who is in charge of security for Iran's nuclear facilities; Javad Karimi Ghadossi, a member of the National Security Committee in the Majlis; Abdallah Ganji, a member of the government's informational council; Saeed Lilaz, reformist activist who served as advisor to Iranian President Mohammad Khatami (1997-2005); and Mahmoud Reza Aghamiri, president of Beheshti University who is himself a nuclear scientist. Also issuing these hints and warnings were various Iranian media outlets," MEMRI documented.

In fact, a website, Asr-e Iran, has confirmed Iran can produce a nuclear warhead and "it would do so and would use it in its next missile attack on Israel."

Legal Insurrection by Stacey Matthews Sunday, April 28, 2024

“we all share the view, based on discussions within our community and with outside experts, that to bring back the NYPD at this time would be counterproductive, further inflaming what is happening on campus”

As further evidence that the lunatics are indeed running the asylum at Columbia University, it was announced Friday by school administrators that the NYPD would no longer be called in to assist with the anti-Israel occupiers on grounds that it only “inflamed” tensions and ultimately was “counterproductive.”

The Columbia Spectator reported the news:

The University does not plan to call the New York Police Department back to campus, University President Minouche Shafik, board of trustees co-chairs Claire Shipman, CC ’86, SIPA ’94, and David Greenwald, Law ’83, and University Provost Angela Olinto announced in a Friday email to the community.

“We called on NYPD to clear an encampment once, but we all share the view, based on discussions within our community and with outside experts, that to bring back the NYPD at this time would be counterproductive, further inflaming what is happening on campus, and drawing thousands to our doorstep who would threaten our community,” the email reads.

The joint statement further states that the University must “enforce our own rules and ensure that those who violate the norms of our community face consequences.” The statement condemns antisemitism on and around campus and writes that “the safety situation has become concerning, particularly with the involvement of individuals not associated with Columbia.”

If the KKK established a tent city in the middle of @Columbia University, threatening minority students & violating rules, you can be sure that Columbia would call the NYPD, the Marines & anyone else with the power to remove them.

But now it's only Jews at risk, so no such luck.

Columbia sends out email to its alumni list linking to Board chair/president statement that the NYPD won't be called back to campus even as anti-Israel protesters continue to flout university rules.
Striking they want this message to get through as widely as possible.

Economy/Business / The Era of One-Stop Grocery Shopping Is Over
« Last post by 240B on Today at 04:49:53 pm »

Grocery prices are up 21% in three years, according to the Labor Department, helping drive the trend toward multi-stop shopping.

Wall Street Journal

Harking back to the days before supermarkets, Americans are dividing their food shopping among more stores to save money.

Consumers bought groceries from an average of 20.7 different retailers between March 2023 and February 2024 according to data firm Numerator, up 23% from the same months between 2019 and 2020. In addition to visiting more stores, shoppers are also traveling to cheaper ZIP Codes to shop and pursuing loyalty programs and promotions in greater numbers, retail analysts say.

Treasure-hunt grocery shopping is the latest example of consumers changing their behavior in response to the higher of prices in our lives, from the homes we live in to the daycares where we send our kids. Now, with groceries taking up the highest percentage of household budgets in 30 years, more shoppers are driving all over town in pursuit of deals.

American Policy by Dan Titus 4/25/2024

On September 20, 2023, the Biden administration met at the Sustainable Development Summit in New York with the goal of recommitting to the [United Nations] 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals—SDGs. A White House fact sheet stated, “The United States is committed to the full implementation of 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, at home and abroad…

At their core, the SDGs seek to:

•   Expand economic opportunity – This means public-private partnerships, which is crony capitalism. In this scheme there are winners and losers, where profits are privatized and losses are socialized on the backs of middle-class Americans.

•   Advance social justice – This means placating and advancing people based on their skin color. At its core it is discriminatory.

•   Promote good governance – This skirts our elected form of government and injects unelected special interest initiatives into our lives, where no one gets to vote.

•   Ensure no one is left behind – This means catering to protected classes and minorities in order to create “capacity building” for initiatives and redistributive wealth schemes. Under Diversity and Inclusion (DEI), these classes are awarded “equity” and “inclusion” based on their skin color.

In a Ping-Pong game of executive orders, President Obama put the federal agencies into the SDGs; President Trump got SDGs out; President Biden put them back in during the first week of his administration. Congress has done nothing to reel them in.

Biden sent an envoy to California to study what the state has done with its radical climate bills in order to put the ideas to work in the $1.2 trillion dollar Infrastructure Bill and the $720 billion dollar Inflation Reduction Act. In order to “incentivize” states, the federal government offers grants for voluntary, nonbinding, United Nations SDGs. In other words, states don’t have to do this; however, they sell out for the money.

I drove a Tesla and it gives a tremendous ride/torque/response, quietness. Once you drive one you will understand why they will take over ICE cars
SO yes I am looking at the new Toyota EV's when they come out later this year or early next.

Again, you don't own one or drive one. That's the bottom line.

I have two business partners that own Tesla's. I know others that own Tesla's. They are a fun car to drive. Never said they weren't. The simple truth is, all of them also own other non EV vehicles to use when the EV isn't practical for use. If you are wealthy and have a place for multiple vehicles, they're great. Otherwise, there are issues that are time consuming/difficult to overcome.

And if you buy the Toyota, you won't be charging it in 10 minutes at your home anytime soon.

Texas Scorecard by  Will Biagini April 26, 2024

“If that is not an obvious violation of the Constitution, it’s hard to imagine what would be,” the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals previously determined

After a series of court reversals, Laredo-based independent journalist Priscilla Villarreal is seeking to have her case heard before the U.S. Supreme Court following her arrest by Laredo law enforcement.

According to the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression—which is representing Villarreal in her SCOTUS appeal—police hunted her into silence in April of 2017 because they opposed her journalism, which was often critical of local officials.

FIRE also argued that police “dusted off” old statutes never before used against journalists to criminalize her work. After receiving tips from private citizens and asking a Laredo police officer to verify facts about a high-profile suicide and fatal car accident, two warrants were issued for her arrest.
