God take up Basil in His arms. She was a Central Texas fixture on FR.
-
I'm sorry sink. I didn't mean to leave you off. I don't know who is here. She never turned anyone away and had an amazing and long gone ability to treat people as individuals, not political groupies.

Thanks. I didn't see the General Discussions section.

RIP @Basil
sad. I remember we also had a post about Mesta Machines when she passed.

Thanks. I didn't see the General Discussions section.
I posted a link to this on the welcome thread as well. Hope you don't mind.

Of course I don't mind. I just want to get the word out. So many oldtimers banned or gone and spread out. I first met basil when she was living in Plano. We used to go out for "drinks" nd she would show me her coolest little handbag that carried her gun. I later drove to Lakeway on occasion to see her and would stay at her beautiful home on the lake. Unfortunately after I fell it took me years to get back to drivingthose roadtrips and it's been awhile since I last saw her. (Or went thru Huntsville, ahem)

Condolences and prayers to Basil's family and friends...

Thanks for letting us know. She's been on my mind lately.
@DrewsDad, making sure you saw this.

She was a GREAT lady and a very effective activist for things that matter! She will be greatly missed!
And it's GREAT to see you again as well! Hope to do that in person again real soon!

Thanks @Sanguine
Basil will be missed. I haven't heard anything about services yet.
I have numerous pictures to post if I can find a hosting site. My avatar is my favorite photo of Basil.

I've used Photobucket for years. Free and intuitive.

We'll start with my favorite.
This was from a counterprotest to the False Peaceniks back in October 2001 (a month and a half after 9/11).
An anarchist punk on a bike rode right in the middle of our group and Basil had a few choice words for him.
I'll post other pics when I have time, but if you can't wait or want to link it yourself with a story, you can click on the photo and look through other photos.

Prayers and condolences for her family...

This was from out protest at our CBS affiliate back in 2004 when Dan Rather was making things up against Bush.
Basil was sporting her usual Second Amendment Sisters hat.

Rest in peace, dear lady. Prayers for basil's family.

Ted Kennedy came to town in December 2003 and Basil had a message for him.
(Love the T-shirt)

She looked like a woman to be reckoned with. Sorry for the loss.

She was a real pistol - pun intended.

There's the obituary for Mari. Sigh, I'm just so sad.
-
Thanks, MAF. She had a full and good life and touched many other lives.
-
I know. Thanks @Sanguine. This just caught me offguard, not that you're ever prepared.
-
Basil was always a very decent lady to me, even when I said things that might not have always seemed proper.
RIP Hon, you are free of the idiots in the material world now. Fly away.
-
Oh darn, she was a good person.
