Sen. Ted Cruz is going after Congress, and they are not going to be happy with the new measure that he has introduced.
As noted by the Houston Chronicle, the Texas Republican wants to place term limits on members of Congress.
Cruz and Florida GOP Rep. Francis Rooney introduced an amendment last week that would limit U.S. Senators to two 6-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives to three 2-year terms.
If Cruz’s amendment to the U.S. Constitution were passed in Congress, it would only take effect after it is passed and signed into law.

This is some kind of political posturing since he has to know it will NEVER get through this house and is unlikely to get through the senate. He'll be lucky if it comes to a vote in either chamber. tri22

I don't think it's political posturing but Ted knows perfectly well it won't pass now.
I think he's trying to call attention to this issue nationally so that the public may eventually get behind it.
It is direly needed.

I think it will take an amendment. I have a feeling the Ratification by the States would be a breeze, it's the Congress that won't let it happen.

Always funny to watch the GOP eat their own. Especially when Sen Cruz was a hero of the right 5 years ago. I'm old enough to remember when he spent all summer promoting a government shutdown to try and stop Obamacare. I know he didn't call it a shutdown he called it defunding Obamacare. Sen Cruz thought Americans had principles and would fight for their freedom. I would think the GOP would have a little gratitude to Cruz for showing Trump how stand up for America and fail with a shutdown. I appreciate him. Slapping President Trump around for repeating the history he forgot 5 years ago makes my life more exciting.

Then Sen Cruz spent the next year along with Breitbart, Freedomwatch, and the Senate Conservative Fund trying to primary the Senate swamp that abandoned him, since he couldn't really go after the American people.
The swamp didn't drain.
That's just how I saw it. Let me know if you saw it differently.

Why do you do this Tom? I have seen you post this at least 3 or 4 times and it is just one big lie. What you posted has no reflection on Ted personally and actually not his camp either... the camp would actually be defending the Bible if they honestly thought Rubio was mocking it.
The problem was in the heat of an election they didn't take heed of Proverbs 25:8 .... They didn't do their research (someone in a liberal Penn college newspaper mistitled the words Rubio said and they took their word for it)... In their haste, they put Cruz in a bad light though no fault of his own. What could Cruz do? He did the right thing and asked the staffer to resign immediately the next day. Cruz also futher added that Rubio made a "light-hearted comment" (read innocent and somewhat sweet)...
Rubio was right to be upset at first, but he then used the situation to push too hard and eventually it made him look petty IMHO. Instead of placing some blame where it belonged (student newspaper that still to this day suggests it reported what they heard Rubio say, but could not prove it due to unclear audio). Cruz took responsibility for his staff not heeding the words from the book (Proverbs) Rubio referred them to (and I quoted verse and chapter above).
During an election there is often hundreds of employees, all of them human. A few are going to make mistakes... but assigning blame from one of them to Cruz again is petty, especially in light that Cruz didn't make the mistake and Cruz did not cover for the obvious mistake. There is a long way to say Cruz ran a dirty campaign in this instance to something like Trump posting a faked picture on Twitter of Jeb Bush picking his nose, and you know it.
Personally stuff like this (posting obvious debunked lies) gets my goat. #HighRoad

It would not end their careers. They'd be grandfathered. Truman was grandfathered when the 22nd Amendment passed but chose not to run again.
