100% Fed Up
Apr 9, 2018
Speak now or forever hold your peace…literally. If Americans don’t start fighting back against the insidious leftist movement to take away our First and Second Amendments, we will have no one to blame but ourselves for allowing the Democrats to strip us of our fundamental rights. To be silent is to allow Barack Obama’s fundamental transformation of America to take hold, including the dismantling of our Constitution. If you think we’re being a bit overdramatic about the erosion of our free speech rights, check out the new bill that’s being proposed by California Democrat

Well as long as they stop Trump I am ok with it.

This bill is something that the courts -- at least for now -- would shoot down. A flat-out ban on political speech is too obvious to pass muster.
However, the left would very much like to use "campaign finance reform" as the vehicle to squash political speech they don't like. Define the dissemination of all speech -- whether on YouTube, message boards, whatever -- as a form of "contribution", then regulate it. Define such speech as protected if it is objectively neutral and factually correct (as determined by government "fact checkers"), then regulate the rest out of existence.

Careful. Forgetting the sarc tag can get you pounced on around here.

No, I've decided I want to fit in the ole echo chamber.

Can anyone imagine your emails being reviewed by government agents for "truth"?
The Liberals are certainly taking off their hoods and coming out with their real agenda. They really do want a Soviet Union or Chinese style of government. It is hard to believe which is why people tend to take it with a grain of salt. But every day they show that they are absolutely serious about this stuff.
Think about it.
Cashless society, so all transactions of any kind go through banks regulated by government.
All weapons of any kind registered, controlled, and distributed by government.
All speech of any kind governed, regulated, and censored by government.
And they call us fascists.
And the biggest irony of all is that the Left calls Trump 'a dictator'. The facts are the opposite. The very reason they hate Trump so much is because he is the opposite of a dictator. From their words and actions, 'a dictator' is exactly what they want.
-
A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have.

There was a time not so long ago I'd have laughed at the thought.
Not anymore.

@240B Thanks for sharing this! This is a terrible idea, and I'll contact my state legislators to tell them to vote no. We have to stop this now before we get "speech crimes" like France, etc. I'm glad a backlash is beginning on some college campuses. I spend a lot of time talking to the kids at school about the importance of free speech and hearing opinions they don't agree with.

@txradioguy The "information provider" aspect of this is the most dangerous, IMO. I'm going to ask my tech husband what his suggestions are for fighting it. I know the Linux/open source community will be concerned.

A lot of it would require people to stop using electronic communications like email Instant Messenger and forums like this and go back to written communication.
It could also lead to a rebirth of the old BBS style forums from the early 90's if anything just for the privacy aspects in comparison to a facebook and sites like that.

It's the Desired Americanisch Uber Alles from the Ministry of Truth that is creating yet another Attorney Employment Program.
California Senator Introduces Bill to Kill Free Speech, Requires State-Sanctioned Fact Checkers to Approve Online Content (http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2018/04/it-begins-california-senator-introduces-bill-to-kill-free-speech-requires-state-sanctioned-fact-checkers-to-approve-online-content/)
The bill would require the plan to include, among other things, a plan to mitigate the spread of false information through news stories, the utilization of fact-checkers to verify news stories, providing outreach to social media users, and placing a warning on a news story containing false information.

@txradioguy Yeah, which of course would make information more difficult to acquire. I feel really blindsided by this; I'd been more focused on efforts to curtail racist-blah blah "hate speech" ;(.

And it will be a program where you're guilty until proven innocent.

What most of us here have learned over the years at various times...is that when the Dems are distracting the public with things like the bogus Trump collusion investigation and grabbing our guns...it's what you don't hear about that they are doing behind the curtain that we should be most worried about.
It's at times like that when you see legislation like this try to get quietly slipped through the process before anyone notices.

Usually in trillion-dollar omnibus spending bills crafted in secret and pushed upon the Reps to vote on before anyone has a chance to read it. McConnell and Ryan and the GOP leadership doing its level best to twist arms and threaten and cajole their party into supporting it.

Pretty much the response of most people in America when they see insanity like that.

The problem is that too often, nutty ideas that are rightly dismissed as nuts the first time around keep getting pushed by the left. They get picked up in popular culture, the media, in schools...and before you know it, we discover that gay marriage was a constitutional right all along, and we just never knew it.

Question, has this been reported else say on Fox News besides Breitbart or Gatewaypundit?
