A manager for the Smash Mouth lead singer tells us Steve has been struggling with alcohol abuse throughout his life -- and now, he's reached the final stage of liver failure ... for which he'd, up until recently, been receiving treatment at a hospital.

I've heard the name, but I am not really all that familiar with the music. However, 56 is too young, such a shame.

He might as well be walking on the sun.

Clearly, he's no All-Star.

Oh, Smash Mouth was all over the radio in the late 90s. I always liked that surfy-spacey sound.

"Walkin' on the Sun," "Can't Get Enough of You Baby," "Then the Morning Comes," "All Star..." and their cover of "I'm a Believer" from Shrek.

I never heard of them until I saw them in a movie, a really bad remake of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World" that was written by the guy who came up with "Monk" for TV. I believe the movie was called "Rat Race" or something similar.
Lots of stars in it but a total pass, unless you're bored and it's free on a streaming channel . Some really crude humor

I really enjoyed "Monk", and saw Rat Race years ago--just recall a couple of plot basics, and not much more.

He has shuffled off this mortal coil. Rest In Peace,

Rat Race is an awesome movie.
The first time I saw it, I laughed my tushie off. :silly:
Saw it again a year or so ago on either Netflix, Hulu or Prime. It didn't seem as funny, but it was perfect for a rainy day. I guess maybe my humor might be changing once I hit the last big birthday. 888cryingkitty
It did have quite a stellar cast, though.

@mountaineer
I am no doctor and know nothing about the man,his life,or his music,but it sure sounds to me like he caught a break when he died.
There is a limit to how much ANYONE should suffer if they have only abused themselves. More suffering should be reserved for people like Mao,Stalin,or Hitler.
