I'll admit that even Monty Python, Johnny Carson, and the Mighty Allen Art Players (from radio's ancient Fred Allen Show) would find President Tweety like shooting fish in the barrel by now, but you still have two other branches and a bureaucracy with boils to lance. ;)

True. But since Trump has been around, the others don't occupy much space in the zeitgeist. The media is pretty much all Trump all the time. I am sure Steve Allen or Johnny Carson would find a lot of material with Trump, but it would not be as hate-filled and blatantly agenda-driven as what we are seeing from Fallon and Colbert. It would be much more nuanced and clever.

It's also enough to make you miss Henry Morgan's NBC Monitor segments, That Was the Week That Was, and Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (especially its first three seasons) even more . . .

Very interesting. I think the song is a classic. It's a light-hearted and very clever exploration of the differences between men and women when it comes to sex. It's a shame that it has come to be regarded as an anthem for date rape. It's just one more example of how much we seem to have lost our sense of humor in a day when everything has to be politically-charged.
I will say that while "Baby It's Cold Outside" is not about rape "#Baby You're Cold Inside" is most definitely about date rape, and (like the original song) the differences between the sexes when it comes to perceptions of sex. In the old days, casual sex made men feel powerful and women feel defeated. It still does, but women can be massively empowered afterwards by declaring themselves victims, and that changes the whole ballgame.
That is not to trivialize date rape. There is no question that it happens, frequently. In spite of that, I think I'd rather be a young female today than a young male. The cards are stacked against the males, imho. That's why so many of them are doing without real life sex altogether and going to online porn and virtual reality.

Our sense of humour was kidnapped and gang-raped. wink777 (Jeez, how often around even here do you see fine wit either taken out of context or denounced by one or another partisan!)
That said, this will always be my favourite version of that song . . .
