Germany accused of ‘policy madness’ after hiking airline passenger tax
Jump in aviation levies could hamper industry’s net zero goals, warns IATA boss

Germany has been accused of “policy madness” over its decision to increase airline passenger taxes by nearly a fifth.

A group of the world’s largest airlines have warned that a 19pc jump in Germany’s aviation levies will damage the country’s economy and erode the industry’s ability to hit net zero.

The change, which came into force on Wednesday, will mean that each passenger flying to and from German airports must now pay between €15.53 (£13.28) and €70.83 in tax on their fares.

Willie Walsh, director general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) lobby group and former boss of British Airways, said: “When Germany’s economic performance is anaemic at best, denting its competitiveness with more taxes on aviation is policy madness.

Biden EPA Rolls Out Reams Of Regs Aimed At Destroying America’s Coal Industry
by Jack Montgomery  2 hours ago

The Joe Biden regime has approved 681 pages of new coal power regulations likely to strangle coal-focused energy companies and the mines that supply them. [emphasis, links added]

Demands in new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations include requiring coal power stations to install carbon capture systems that do not exist commercially at scale.

Along with new baseload gas-fired plants, coal power stations must slash emissions by 90 percent.

And yet no one is held accountable.

Will that include Trump?  Don't you think he should be held accountable?

The High Price of Climate Alarm

It is with no small amount of pleasure that I found a media outlet acknowledging President Joe Biden’s energy and climate policies have increased American’s energy costs. The Dallas Express, a local online alternative news outlet, published a story titled “Energy Prices 30% Higher Under Biden Admin.” Unlike so much of the mainstream media, The Dallas Express didn’t expend ink trying to explain how consumers really don’t realize that the economy and their lives are better despite the higher prices, or that the costs Biden and company have added to peoples’ power bills are justified as a means of fighting climate change. Rather, the Express took a Joe Friday, “just the facts” approach, explaining:

Energy prices in the United States are wreaking havoc on budget-sensitive households, making it harder for families to save money or get ahead financially.

Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, Americans’ electricity bills have skyrocketed nearly 30%, or 13 times faster than in the previous seven years, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of the latest consumer price index data.

Despite the Federal Reserve holding interest rates steady since July 2023, inflation continues to pose a problem for policymakers and households.

Well, I see that the climate hypemeisters are at it again. Here’s Google News on the subject.

Figure 1. The usual, from the usual suspects.

So I thought I’d take a look at some of the claims. To start with, here’s an overview of the sea level rise around the US coasts.

Figure 2. US relative sea level trends. Red is fastest rising, then orange, yellow, green, and finally blue for areas where relative sea level is falling. SOURCE: NOAA

A few notes of interest. First, look at the east coast / west coast differences in relative sea level rise. This is generally not because sea levels are rising at different rates on the east and west coasts. It’s because the land is generally sinking on the east coast and rising on the west coast. Nothing to do with the ocean.

Next, check out the local differences. At Grand Isle, Louisiana, the big red arrow in the Gulf of Mexico, the relative sea level is rising at 9.2 mm per year … while only a short distance away, the green arrow to the right of Grand Isle shows that Pensacola, Florida has a relative sea level rise less than a third of that, 2.7 mm per year.

Why different sea level rise rates? Again, it has nothing to do with the ocean. It’s because Grand Isle is a silty barrier island in the Mississippi Delta, and like all such islands, it’s slowly sinking into the briny blue.

Climate Ideology Ignores Science, Threatens Humanity

Climate scientists would be less likely to issue dire warnings of planetary doom if they gave more credence to the geological history of the past several million years. Instead, they rely on computer models that are biased by the preconceptions of their manipulators and incapable of accounting for the myriad factors influencing global temperatures.

Minuscule recent warming, whatever the cause, is inconsequential in light of the long record of data found in Antarctica ice cores that go back 800,000 years. The bottom line is that Earth is colder by nearly 3 degrees Celsius than it was 3,000 years ago and is just now climbing out of its longest cold spell of the last 10,000 years. Blaring headlines about record heat waves of the past 100 years are meaningless, hysterical blather.

A deeper dive into geologic history — based partly on the record stored over millions of years in deep-ocean sediments — shows that today’s carbon dioxide concentrations of 420 parts per million are a fraction of past levels that reached 5,000 ppm and more. Carbon dioxide is nearly at its lowest level ever since plant life began so many millions of years ago and well below the optimum amount for the health of most vegetation.

Green Blob Tells Government to Spend £30 Billion on Machine to Remove CO2 From the Air
BY BEN PILE 5 MAY 2024 7:00 AM

A story in the Telegraph last week featured a report by Energy Systems Catapult (ESC) which recommended the Government commit to a £30 billion project to pull CO2 from the air. According to the report, Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) machines sited across the east coast could separate the greenhouse gas from air and pump it to underground storage facilities, thereby helping the U.K. to meet its ambitious 2050 Net Zero target. Not only is this extraordinarily expensive idea pointless in itself, it exposes the equally pointless and expensive constellation of publicly-funded lobbying organisations.

According to ESC, “carbon capture in its various forms is a critical component of a low-cost energy transition”, and “without it, at scale, we risk non-compliance with our Net Zero requirement”. And here is the thing that would, were such things subject to public debate, cause millions of people to scratch their heads. So what if the U.K. does not comply with its Government’s self-imposed target? What is the ‘risk’? And why should the public fork out billions of pounds merely for a daft machine that serves no function other than help a Government achieve its ambition that nobody else really cares about?

Madder still, the ESC admits that DACCS “remains unproven at scale”. This raises two important problems.

The part that impresses me the most is that she isn't backing down.  When was the last time a Republican did that?  No apology tour.  No groveling to the press.  No cowardice in her job.  She did it.  She said she did it.  She explained why.  And she stands by her decision.  I would vote to put someone like this in the White House in a Dakota minute.
Yep, me too!

But then I haven't understood all the pearl-clutching and vapors over putting down an animal that attacks livestock and humans.

There's just nothing for me - Either big screen or TV... Once you've YooToob'd for a while, everything - And I do mean everything - seems so scripted and phony, not to mention totally unbelievable. I've used the example of a 100lb beauty queen, in heels and with perfect hair, kicking the crap out of a 250lb man before, but that ain't even half of it. Throw in the now always present homo lust scene, and I don't even need to turn the channel, because there is no reason for me to be on any channel in the first place.

I am long, long gone, and I won't be back.

Because of just what you've outlined here, I clicked on the Netflix "DOCUMENTARY" category and have become addicted.

It's the only genre that haven't been corrupted by Barack and Big Mike's hands...usually 3 or 4 episodes...how they gather evidence and garner confessions.

Have to get 'SOMETHING' for my $18 @ month.
