San Francisco bakery refuses to sell to cops in uniform

Doughnut come here with a gun, a popular San Francisco bakery is warning police officers.

Reem’s California, a local Arab street food restaurant and bakery chain, announced that it is enforcing a policy not to serve anyone with a weapon.

“NO COPS ALLOWED. That’s the confirmed policy of the bakery chain Reem’s,” the San Francisco Police Officers’ Association tweeted on August 24.

It included a screenshot of an email apparently from a Reem’s executive to the San Francisco Police Officers’ Association that said the company has a policy “to not serve anyone that is armed in a uniform.”

The union had urged the bakery to post signage about its policy after it denied service to an officer in uniform.

“We are not asking Reem’s or any business with a bigoted policy to serve our officers,” the association explained in a follow-up tweet. “We’re asking them to own their discriminatory policy and put up a sign so we know not to spend money in your establishment — on or off duty.”

The Mission bakery opened shortly before the pandemic hit the Bay Area,  and has become a popular attraction.

Fair's fair.  The cops should let it be known, through "channels", that they won't be responding to any calls from this bakery.

You know who loves doughnuts?  Homeless junkies.  They need the sugar when coming down.  There needs to be a new charity in SF - Doughnuts for the Homeless.

SFPD should advertise very publicly that Reem’s is "police-free", especially in the Tenderloin, .

San Francisco police union on bakery's anti-gun policy: "that's directed at police officers"

Quote
Reem’s California is a San Francisco bakery that refused to serve a police officer at its Mission District cafe. The San Francisco police union is blasting the establishment, accusing it of “anti-police bigotry.”

The bakery has a policy that bans firearms from its restaurants, including police officers in uniform. Their policy is a strict one.
...
The San Francisco Police Officers Association (SPOA) is pushing back and posted on X (formerly Twitter) that an officer was denied service at the Mission Street Reem’s California. The reason was because he was in uniform. He was told there was a policy against serving anyone “armed and in uniform.”

That Reem’s California's owner pretends to believe that thugs would comply with their gun-free policy is simply not credible.

Pandering to the lowest common denominators...should work out well for them.   :smokin:
