CA Democrat: Sue Gun Parts Manufacturers (Unless Texas Heartbeat Bill Overturned)
AWR Hawkins 26 Apr 2022
California State Sen. Robert Hertzberg (D) is pushing legislation to allow civil suits to be filed against manufacturers of precursor parts for firearms until the Texas heartbeat bill is overturned.
Such parts are contained in or associated with 80 percent firearm kits, and such kits are used by hobbyists to build firearms at home.
Hertzberg’s legislation, Senate Bill 1327, would:
Create a private right of action for any person against any person who, within this state, manufactures or causes to be manufactured, distributes, transports, or imports into the state, or causes to be distributed or transported or imported into the state, keeps for sale or offers or exposes for sale, or gives or lends any firearm lacking a serial number required by law, assault weapon, .50 BMG rifle, or firearm precursor part, subject to certain exceptions, as specified.

Sue the farmer who grew the corn that as made into whiskey that the driver drank before they crashed their car into yours?
Someone needs to rein in these lawyers.
As for killing a baby in the womb, that's more direct, imho, murder.
To hold people who make parts for guns hostage over not being allowed to murder babies is the ultimate irony.
-
Sue the companies that make medical equipment and pharmaceuticals used for abortions and gender re-assignment.
-
How many gun manufacturers are based in California? Seems a simple matter of moving outside the State.

They don't have to be based in California to be technically amenable to suit in California. Long-arm jurisdiction is quite extensive.

Not according to the wording above. If the gun manufacturer is in Nevada and refuses to sell direct to California gun dealers, then they are not liable for anyone sidestepping that arrangement.

Nope. If the Nevada manufacturer imports, or causes to be distributed, transported, or imported, into the state, then the Nevada manufacturer is within the scope of the statute.

Not sure how the two are connected, unless he thinks unwanted Texans will move west and shoot people. Eugenics ceased to be a convincing argument some decades ago.

Extortion, one of the Dems favorite tricks.

While I can see Californians moving to Texas to escape the hellhole they created out there, I don't really think that many Texans would move to California, even if they declared open season on Leftists.
