Thomas Massie Gets Brutal Re-Election Update Amid Feud With Trump

Published 2 hours ago

By Mark Steffen

Signs of wear and tear on the image of Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) are becoming more evident after months of eviscerating criticisms by President Donald Trump.

Massie has been at the forefront of a small band of hardline fiscal conservatives threatening to hold up Trump’s “big, beautiful” tax cut bill when it returns from Senate markups for a second vote. His outspoken opposition has drawn sharp words from Trump, who over the weekend announced that he would be investing heavily in a Republican challenger to defeat Massie in next year’s primary election.

Winning that battle may turn out to be easier than it initially appeared.

A new poll by Kaplan Strategies shows that the six-term lawmaker is viewed poorly by his constituents, the vast majority of whom would prefer that someone else take his place when the 120th Congress convenes in 2027.

Asked whether Massie deserves to be reelected, just 19% of respondents agreed, while 47% indicated they would be willing to support a challenger. If Trump were to endorse that challenger, Massie’s stature would fall even further to 14% while the challenger’s support would rise to 59%.

More than 300 charged in $14.6 billion health care fraud schemes takedown, Justice Department says
By  ALANNA DURKIN RICHER
Updated 3:27 PM EDT, June 30, 2025

WASHINGTON (AP) — State and federal prosecutors have charged more than 320 people and uncovered nearly $15 billion in false claims in what they described Monday as the largest coordinated takedown of health care fraud schemes in Justice Department history.

Law enforcement seized more than $245 million in cash, luxury vehicles, cryptocurrency, and other assets as prosecutors warned of a growing push by transnational criminal networks to exploit the U.S. health care system. As part of the sweeping crackdown, officials identified perpetrators based in Russia, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, and other countries.

“These criminals didn’t just steal someone else’s money. They stole from you,” Matthew Galeotti, who leads the Justice Department’s criminal division, told reporters Monday. “Every fraudulent claim, every fake billing, every kickback scheme represents money taken directly from the pockets of American taxpayers who fund these essential programs through their hard work and sacrifice.”   ...

Viktor Belenko, Who Defected to the West in a MiG-25 Foxbat Jet Fighter, has passed away

Quote
Viktor Belenko, the former Soviet Air Defence Forces pilot who defected to the West in 1976 in a MiG-25 high-speed interceptor, has passed away on Sep. 24, 2023 Alert 5 first noted.

He died in a nursing home in a small town in Southern Illinois on Sep. 24. However, journalists learned about his death only now. The New York Times quoted Belenko’s son, Paul Schmidt, on Nov. 20 as saying that his father had died after a brief, unspecified illness in a nursing home in Rosebud, Illinois.

Viktor Belenko was born into a simple family of Soviet workers on Feb. 15, 1947, in Nalchik. But he managed to build a military career, making his way into the elite USSR Air Defense Forces, which defended the country from a possible attack from the outside.

On Sep. 6, 1976, then Lt. Belenko flew his MiG-25P fighter to Hakodate Airport in Hokkaido Prefecture of Japan, as the photos in this post show. After circling Hakodate airport three times, Belenko landed at the airport with around 30 seconds of fuel remaining.

As explained by Yefim Gordon in his book Mig-25 ‘Foxbat’ Mig-31 ‘Foxhound’: Russia’s Defensive Front Line, it will probably never be known if Belenko contacted the US military intelligence on his own or was hired by them (there is even a theory that ‘V Belenko’ was just a cover name for a trained agent tasked with stealing the latest Soviet military hardware, shades of Clint Eastwood in Firefox). Investigators found out that the defection was not an impulsive action of a dissatisfied officer – Belenko was expected in Japan and made preparations for the flight. He high-tailed it to Japan the very first time he had a full fuel load, taking the classified technical manuals with him.

Federal immigration raids have spread to New England’s summer island getaway destinations, with 40 people detained on Tuesday by agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency and the FBI.

ICE states in a press release that the raids occurred on the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

The Nantucket Current reports that the action by federal authorities appears to be the largest immigration enforcement operation on the island in years. ...  Yahoo News
Mr. M wants to revisit Nantucket next year for our wedding anniversary. I'm not too keen on it.

Wait until the UN finds out it will no longer be living large in NYC following a socialist mayor and fleeing upper/middle class.

Maybe it needs to setup shop in Gaza to get first-hand knowledge on the situation there.

Rents will be cheaper, too.

Convert the UN building into low-rent housing, like in the movie Heavy Metal.

While the law avoids explicit references to religion it will mean that women will no longer be allowed to cover their faces fully with niqabs or burqas.

Kazakhstan bans face coverings in public places
Straits Times

ALMATY - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law on Monday prohibiting individuals from wearing clothing in public places that covers their faces, joining a trend in several Central Asian countries to restrict forms of Islamic dress.

The text of the law says clothing that "interferes with facial recognition" will be banned in public, with exemptions for medical purposes, in adverse weather conditions and at sporting and cultural events.

The legislation, one in a series of wider amendments signed into law on Monday, does not explicitly mention religion or types of religious dress.

Tokayev has previously praised the legislation as an opportunity to celebrate ethnic identity in Kazakhstan, a majority-Muslim country and former Soviet republic.

"Rather than wearing face-concealing black robes, it's much better to wear clothes in the national style," he was quoted by Kazakh media as saying earlier this year. ...

Sounds about right.  Lydia Graham did the same thing, and secured an endorsement soon afterwards.

...and McConnell.  I hope Trump has gotten more intelligent.

What damage, you will not let real non-compromised inspectors in. I hear Israel has the best damage assessment people in the business that will work cheap.
