James Comer claims to have unearthed new Biden bank accounts, issues subpoena
By Social Links for Ryan King
Published May 16, 2024, 1:10 p.m. ET

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer alleged Thursday that his panel had uncovered new financial accounts related to his investigation of the Biden family and announced a fresh subpoena against an unnamed bank.

“This morning I issued a subpoena for targeted financial information from a certain financial institution related to [first brother] Jim Biden, [his wife] Sarah Biden, and [first son] Hunter Biden,” Comer (R-Ky.) announced on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria.”

Comer, who is leading the eight-month-old impeachment inquiry into President Biden, explained that the subpoena stemmed from material turned over by Hunter’s former longtime business partner Devon Archer.

“We believe we found new accounts, and remember, the number of bank accounts that we’ve discovered over the past year and a half … is unbelievable,” Comer told Bartiromo.

Biden omits free vacations at million dollar homes from ethics forms despite Clarence Thomas outcry
By Social Links for Steven Nelson
Published May 16, 2024, 4:08 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON — President Biden failed again to note his free stays at the vacation homes of rich patrons on annual ethics forms made public this week — making the omission days after ProPublica was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for chronicling Supreme Court justices’ non-disclosures under the same transparency rule.

Biden took four vacations at the homes of wealthy supporters in 2023, none of which were listed as gifts on the forms signed by the president. The annual paperwork must be submitted by federal officeholders — including judges and presidents — under the Ethics in Government Act of 1978.

“If there’s a deliberate omission of a gift, an intentional lie, that can very well be prosecuted as a criminal offense,” said Richard Painter, who served as chief White House ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush.

“It just seems to me to be stupid to leave it off the form because everyone knows about [presidential] trips and everyone’s going to ask who paid,” added Painter, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress as a Democrat in 2018 and 2022.

“So you either have to pay for the house, make sure the owner is present or put it on the form. Those are your three options.”

Biden and his family began and ended 2023 with free stays over the New Year’s holiday at the beachfront St. Croix home of Bill and Connie Neville, which is typically listed as a VRBO rental.

House passes GOP bill to undo Biden’s weapons freeze to Israel
by Mychael Schnell and Mike Lillis - 05/16/24 5:04 PM ET

The House on Thursday approved a bill to reverse President Biden’s pause on some weapons shipments to Israel, a formal admonishment of the administration’s approach to the war in the Middle East that narrowly divided Democrats, who have struggled to unify as the controversial conflict drags on.

The bill — which cleared the chamber in a 224-187 vote — is expected to go nowhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate, where party leaders are vowing not to consider it at all. Still, the proposal acted to unite House Republicans — who have been fiercely divided over other issues, like government funding and aid to Ukraine — while splintering a handful of pro-Israel Democrats away from Biden and other party leaders, who had urged their troops to rally behind the president by opposing the measure.

Most did just that, and the list included a number of prominent Jewish Democrats who have sided with Republicans on other controversial bills related to Israel in recent months. Reps. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.) and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), for example, had condemned Biden’s weapons hold but voted against the legislation Thursday, hammering the GOP-led proposal as a setback to Israel’s defense in the region and standing in the world.

But Republican leaders, nonetheless, viewed the legislation as essential to showcase their displeasure with Biden’s handling of the war and put Democrats on the record as the high-profile conflict emerges as a key weak spot for the president’s re-election bid.

“We want the president to hear this loud and clear: He said just not long ago that we had to have ironclad support for Israel. Well, that’s what he previously proclaimed, but his actions are doing exactly the opposite,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said Thursday. “This is a catastrophic decision with global implications. It is obviously being done as a political calculation. And we cannot let this stand.”

"The measure passed the House in a 265-148 vote Wednesday; 211 Republicans were joined by 54 Democrats to send the bill to the Senate."

I'm shocked.
Shocked... to discover that... it wasn't 100% of the DCommunists voting against the bill.

Trump says he's spending a lot of 'my time and my money' in post-court remarks: 'What they want'

In his typical post-court remarks, Donald Trump blasted the 'hush money' trial on Thursday for taking up his time and finances.

After spending several minutes reading off a series of printed-out news clippings about his trial, Trump began by thanking his legal team.

"I just want to thank all the lawyers involved because they've been really working hard," the former president said. "And I'm spending a lot of time and I'm spending a lot of money which is what they want. They want me to spend my time and my money.

"I'm willing to do it because ultimately we have to fight for the Constitution. Thank you very much."

The jury had been excused just moments earlier after another day of testimony by Trump's former fixer Michael Cohen.

The trial is set to resume on Monday since Trump will be attending his son's high school graduation in Florida.
