New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently trashed the electoral college on her Instagram Live, saying that the system used to determine the president of the United States every four years is racist and disproportionately advantageous for white people. Tara Ross, author of Regnery's The Indispensable Electoral College: How the Founders’ Plan Saves Our Country from Mob Rule, broke down for Townhall just why AOC is so misinformed.
"We’re coming to you live from the Electoral College," Ocasio-Cortez said, showing largely empty farmland. "Many votes here, as you can see. Very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I mean I can’t think of any other way, can you?"
"The Electoral College has a racial injustice breakdown," Ocasio-Cortez added. "Due to severe racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as opposed to a 'one person, one vote' system where all our votes are counted equally."
""#FactsAreFacts, America. The Electoral College has got to go," the Democratic Socialist remarked.
Ross told Townhall that AOC fundamentally misunderstands the purpose of the electoral college and fails to see why it is necessary.

That's because she really does know why there is a EC, and doesn't like that it allows Republicans to win once in a while. She wants mob rule, and knows full well there are measures in that pesky Constitution to prevent it.

I think the explanatiion had too many multiple syllable words for her to understand. She is more stupid than sinister.

Yep. But I was thinking about talking to my dog. He looks like he understands (and I'm convinced sometimes does). AOC don't get it. She missed civics class in high school, imo.

Well @Bigun...that's depressing. Not that I'm showing my age (there is an old woman in the mirror that reminds me of that) but that the kids aren't being taught government...or history...or spelling. :shrug:

That's funny. That's the way I think of most Liberals, more stupid than sinister. Don't get it wrong. The people leading them, Soros, Pelosi, Schumer, et. al., are pure evil. They know exactly what they are doing, and are doing it with intent. But the average Liberal has the mental age of a 12 year old. They truly 'believe' in rainbows and unicorns, white people and America are EVIL, everyone else is a Saint.
The average Liberal does not do what they do out of malice. They do it because they are stupid, uneducated, and ignorant, which is exactly how their leaders want them and made them. Democrats/Liberals are stupid mindless sheep, who are easily herded by their shepherds.

Here in Virginia we call it American History or US History, and the electoral college is taught. We have one liberal and one Conservative that teach it and they both pound it in to the students how important the electoral college is.

When I attended HS here in Texas many years ago now passing Civics was required for graduation and IMHO still should be.
