Title: Trump decries 'great disloyalty' of Jews who vote for Democrats
Post by: edpc on August 20, 2019, 10:31:46 pm
President Trump said Tuesday that Jews who vote for Democrats were either ignorant or disloyal.

Trump was asked if the United States should reconsider its policies toward Israel after the country refused to permit two Muslim-American U.S. congresswomen to enter.

“Any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat — I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty,” said Trump. It wasn’t clear what he meant by “disloyalty” — and whether it be to Israel, the United States or their faith.

Trump has no idea what he’s talking about. Israel, while a parliamentary democracy, is way left of center, and teeters on being socialist. Their taxes are very high and they have guaranteed healthcare, as a fundamental right, under the National Health Insurance Law of 1995. It even pays for abortions. So, comparatively, their system is pretty much a Democrat’s dream.

They do have universal healthcare, but it is not free, it is paid for by taxes.  Those that want additional healthcare can also purchase private health insurance.

The abortion rate in Israel is lower than that of the UK and the US.  Women have to go before a committee to terminate, though I am not sure how an abortion is either granted or denied.

It is my understanding that AOC is encouraging Palestine to riot against Israel and feels that the US should cut aid to Israel; so it sure seems that she is not exactly a friend to Israel.

Israel is not a socialistic entity, nor a democracy.

All women who seek to end a pregnancy must appear before a three-member committee to state their case, but 98 percent of requests are approved. Women under the age of 20 or over the age of 40 were also previously eligible for subsidized abortions, regardless of the reason.

Universal healthcare isn’t ‘free’ in any nation that provides it. They all have high taxes. As I stated, Israel’s taxes are high - about 50%. Democrats aren’t the only ones who support cutting aid from Israel. Rand Paul wants to cut it over time. His father wanted to eliminate it, immediately. The real danger is the ‘disloyal’ comment. There’s a dark history behind the ‘traitorous jews’ language. Trump isn’t doing himself any favors by skirting it.

DUH!!  Too bad this has nothing to do with actual topic.

The point the POTUS is making is that for the EIGHT (8) YEARS of the Obama presidency Israel was a nation state non-grata  and treated as a pariah, while at the same time the Democrat leadership conspired by aiding and abetting Iran...Israel's mortal enemy.

Since then, the Democrat Party has doubled down!!

And yet, like the African-American voter....they still vote Democrat.   There's no excuse.  Has to be ignorance.

I'm going to start calling you 'Richard Cranium', @edpc    happy77

Of course it does, because as a voting block, they are overwhelmingly socially liberal. It’s cultural and has more to do with their self interests than foreign policy. Everyone knows this.

Expanding on that thought, in their home countries in Europe and Russia, Jews were so persecuted and discriminated against, that once in their new American homeland, they wanted to distance themselves from that treatment as far as possible. The tolerance, softness and “acceptance” of the American liberal philosophy appealed to them on an emotional level, since it represented the social freedom that had eluded them for generations in the ‘old country.’

-snip-

To reiterate: most of today’s American Jewish liberal voters grew up in households that were already liberal/Democratic. In other words, today’s Jewish liberal voter was not a blank sheet of paper, left to their own devices to make a philosophical determination on their own. Their family was likely liberal, their emotional environment was liberal, and their American cultural/societal/religious enclave was liberal. Many of today’s American Jews grew up in areas of high Jewish density, so their communities were largely one-dimensional (Jewish-liberal) as well.

-snip-

When faced with hard evidence to the contrary -- like the Obama administration’s recent abstention from the UN Security Council vote condemning Israeli settlements, the upshot of which is that Israel should return to its pre-1967 borders -- most American Jews frantically genuflect and rationalize to justify their original liberal position. “Well, Israel is Israel, and I’m an American first. My views on domestic politics are shaped by what I believe is best for me here in America, not on America’s actions towards Israel.”

I don't see how they can vote dem, either.  As I recall, Jared and Ivanka couod not vote for him in the primaries because they were registered democrats.  Wonder if they have changed their affiliation?

Kushner switched parties last September. During his problems with his security clearance, his attorneys have included Jamie Gorelick (of Clinton era Gorelick Wall fame) and Abbe Lowell (of Bob Menendez trial fame). You figure out how sincere the conversion is.
