Is America Going Socialist?

Socialists have won one Democratic primary after another this year. Of course, Democratic primary voters represent a thin slice, the leftward-most portion, of our electorate. Still, socialism as a viable popular movement in the United States represents a radical departure from our history. How wide is the appeal of socialism, really?

Rasmussen headlines “Voters Overwhelmingly Reject DSA Policies,” and its findings are interesting. But while the Rasmussen survey tests four policies being advocated by the Democratic Socialists of America, socialism is not one of them. And I don’t find the results to be particularly reassuring:

    The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 19% of Likely U.S. Voters agree with a DSA proposal to abolish prisons “as part of a long-term program.” Seventy-four percent (74%) disagree with the DSA proposal to abolish prisons, including 57% who Strongly Disagree.

So 19% of likely voters want to abolish prisons? The Democratic number must be much higher.

    DSA co-chair Megan Romer was interviewed July 26 on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream, who asked her a series of questions about the organization’s proposals, including abolishing borders and giving amnesty to anyone currently in the U.S. illegally. Only 27% of voters agree with that DSA proposal, while 65% disagree with abolishing borders, including 50% who Strongly Disagree.

No, America is desperate for a Government that works for all Americans, and is willing to try anything once to see if things change for the better.

The youngin's aren't old enough to remember the false promises, failures, purges, famines, ethnic cleansing, oppression, and deprivation at the hands of socialists, communists. Marxist-Leninists, Stalinists, Maoists, and Michael Stanley Dukakis.

They are young enough, naieve enough, inexperienced enough, and ignorant enough to believe what they are told in universities, and there is no rebuttal nor debate on college campuses.
