Fox News Poll: GOP divisions shape Texas Senate race
Democratic enthusiasm keeps both Senate and gubernatorial races competitive

President Donald Trump won the Lone Star state by nearly 14 percentage points in 2024, but a new Fox News Poll of Texas registered voters suggests this year's Senate race is far less settled. Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton has yet to fully unify the GOP despite the president’s endorsement in the GOP primary against incumbent Sen. John Cornyn.

In addition, more voters are concerned Paxton lacks the character to serve than worry Democratic challenger James Talarico is too extreme, and more Democrats than Republicans are extremely motivated to vote (by 7 points) and extremely interested in the midterms (by 6).

Those dynamics give Talarico a 3-point edge over Paxton (51% vs. 48%) in the Senate contest (within the survey’s margin of sampling error).

Talarico's advantage in the race grows to 6 points among both extremely motivated and extremely interested voters (53% vs. 47% in each group).

Trump brought this on himself. He could have waited until after the election to start bombing Iran. A huge mistake on his part imho...I'm all for bombing Iran back to the stone age it's just the timing. 

I am not sure we can keep the House and Senate if we lose them it will be nothing but impeachment, hearings on all Cabinet and Trump Family members for the next two years.

You know how this works.  The president’s party loses seats if his approval is lower than 60%.  2022 was an exception because Trump had unofficially declared and managed once more to distract everyone from Biden’s ineptitude.

2022 was because of the heinous temper tantrum following the Dobbs decision.

And anyone who has any common sense knows that Trump has the least party loyalty (at least ideologically speaking) of any candidate in modern history. If the past 11 years has taught us anything about politics, it's that we have to throw everything we know about "how this works" right out the window.

That's to say nothing of the Democrats getting too cozy with the DSA and their ideas, which has a strong likelihood of pushing away potential voters. I predict a very low-turnout midterm.
