President Donald Trump has played tough with Iran, using the U.S. military to punish that nation’s Islamist regime when it stops talking, and calling off hostile actions when Iran returns to the negotiating table. After five months of this pattern, Americans’ support for U.S. attacks on Iran is lukewarm at best, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.

For the August online national I&I/TIPP Poll, taken from July 28 to Aug. 1, 1,463 adults were asked: “Do you support or oppose U.S. military action against Iran?” The poll’s margin of error is +/-2.9 percentage points.

A total of 42% said they supported military action either “strongly” (22%) or “somewhat,” while a 44% plurality said they opposed it “strongly” (28%) or “somewhat” (16%). Another 14% said they were not sure.

Trump says there was ‘some contractor error’ during Reflecting Pool renovation
by Ryan Mancini - 08/09/26 9:13 PM ET

President Trump on Sunday said there was “some contractor error” with the renovations to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool while still accusing a former Olympian canoeist of vandalizing the Washington, D.C., landmark despite charges against the athlete being dropped.

“There was substantial damage to the Reflecting Pool, also but, unfortunately, there is no video or proof, other than the damage, itself,” he wrote on Truth Social. “We are working on the Pool, and it will reopen shortly. As with many jobs, there was also some contractor error done by rushing the job for a July 4th opening, but it was a very small area of this massive Pool, and was relatively inconsequential.”

Trump claimed that a National Park Service “career employee, a highly credible witness,” saw Olympian David Hearn “in broad daylight vandalize the Reflecting Pool by ‘violently’ ripping and tugging at the Pool’s somewhat delicate coating.” He added that this employee’s testimony was provided to U.S. Attorney of the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro.

The president concluded his post by saying that security cameras “have been, and are being, installed.”

The remarks went up on Truth Social the day after Trump posted photos of alleged vandalism amid a push for Pirro to revisit the decision to drop the charges against multiple people also accused of vandalizing the pool.

This other post on Truth Social included two photos of what appeared to be graffiti and some peeling of the coating of the pool. Both photos were labeled with the word “Vandalism.”

I don't understand Trump's affinity for select dictatorships such as North Korea, Russia, and Iran.  *****rollingeyes*****

Trump does not have an "affinity" for "select dictatorships";  he has an antipathy for them --- coupled with a contempt for the failed policies routinely peddled by the political class through the past 50 years @MeganC

Trump applies the motto:  "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them" to everything .  As a former business leader, the motto is in his blood.

The Democrats Gave Us Today's Inflation

The left insists that Trump’s policies are to blame for higher grocery costs, but the truth is that they (deliberately) planted the seeds during Biden’s presidency.

Luis Gonzalez | August 10, 2026

The grocery receipt is where inflation arrives. It is not where inflation begins, and any politician who tells you otherwise is either innumerate or lying.

For millions of Americans, the economic debate has been reduced to terms even Washington cannot obfuscate: the price of food, the mortgage nobody can qualify for, the insurance premium that arrives like a subpoena. The distance between a paycheck and the obligations waiting for it has been shrinking for four straight years while the people responsible insisted everything was fine.

It was not fine. The reason has a name, a date, and a price tag, all of which the last administration would prefer you forget.

Political discourse begins its analysis now the public feels the pain, never at the moment the decision that caused it was signed into law. By the time the receipt lands on the counter, the men who wrote the check are gone, replaced by successors who inherit the bill and get blamed for it.

This is the first battle of the coming elections: consequences versus causes. It is a battle the left is desperate to fight on any ground except the historical record.
