Senate Democrats Investigate a New Allegation of Sexual Misconduct, from Brett Kavanaugh’s College Years
By Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer

Deborah Ramirez, a Yale classmate of Brett Kavanaugh’s, has described a dormitory party gone awry and a drunken incident that she wants the F.B.I. to investigate.

As Senate Republicans press for a swift vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Senate Democrats are investigating a new allegation of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. The claim dates to the 1983-84 academic school year, when Kavanaugh was a freshman at Yale University. The offices of at least four Democratic senators have received information about the allegation, and at least two have begun investigating it. Senior Republican staffers also learned of the allegation last week and, in conversations with The New Yorker, expressed concern about its potential impact on Kavanaugh’s nomination. Soon after, Senate Republicans issued renewed calls to accelerate the timing of a committee vote. The Democratic Senate offices reviewing the allegations believe that they merit further investigation. “This is another serious, credible, and disturbing allegation against Brett Kavanagh. It should be fully investigated,†Senator Mazie Hirono, of Hawaii, said. An aide in one of the other Senate offices added, “These allegations seem credible, and we’re taking them very seriously. If established, they’re clearly disqualifying.â€
The woman at the center of the story, Deborah Ramirez, who is fifty-three, attended Yale with Kavanaugh, where she studied sociology and psychology. Later, she spent years working for an organization that supports victims of domestic violence. The New Yorker contacted Ramirez after learning of her possible involvement in an incident involving Kavanaugh. The allegation was also conveyed to Democratic senators by a civil-rights lawyer. For Ramirez, the sudden attention has been unwelcome, and prompted difficult choices. She was at first hesitant to speak publicly, partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident. In her initial conversations with The New Yorker, she was reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty. After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away. Ramirez is now calling for the F.B.I. to investigate Kavanaugh’s role in the incident. “I would think an F.B.I. investigation would be warranted,†she said.

I have been saying it all along..I'm not sure Kavanuah is 100% innocent..
Seen too many guys turn into a different person when they get drunk..I am one of them..I also saw it in my fraternity days with fellow fraternity guys who changed when drunk and plenty of women too.
Why I have not been drunk since since college though I do drink an occasional glass of wine, some beers etc.. I turn into a Mr Hyde when nasty drunk especially with whiskey.. (though I have never assauted a woman but have got in plenty of fights, caused property damage, theft etc when nasty drunk.)

We once pulled into a town and its college was having some sort of festival, their "Miner Days" or whatever.... it got a little crazy and in fact, a friend once told me about a couple at a party that got it on in front of everyone or something they were so drunk.
So, here we go again....and should this be enough to bar him if any truth is in it? Maybe we will get to the point where we laugh this stuff off, it's absurd we are fooling with this stuff.

This claim is denied by all who were said to be present and is wholly inconsistent with what many women and men who knew Judge Kavanaugh at the time in college say. No matter who is nominated, even that woman judge, the Dems will come up with some bogus, scandalous charges and the nominee will not be approved. The Dems are hell-bent on getting another liberal on the bench and they will resort to any devious means to get what they want.
It's too bad Republicans are not united behind Judge Kavanaugh -- or on anything else for that matter. This is one of many irksome traits of this party. When the Democrats want something, they unite to make it happen. They wanted Obamacare, so they pushed it through. Republicans can't even agree on the time of day.
A strong united party would be able to resist this nonsense from the Democrats, take the vote and put Judge Kavanaugh on SCOTUS right away. But this party is weak, useless, lazy and corrupt. If Judge Kavanaugh withdraws or a vote on his nomination goes down in flames, it will be another nail in the coffin for the Republican Party.

Hold the freakin' vote.
The allegations against Kavanaugh are transparently false.
If republican leaders (not necessarily elected leaders) were serious they would have already destroyed the reputations of anyone who raised, represented, or supported the first set of allegations against Kavanaugh, making such examples of them that no one would dare consider a second such attempt. And they would have demonstrated to Collins, Flake, Murkowski, and all the other republican senators that they either support Kavanaugh or their own careers and reputations would be forfeit.
This is war. Many of us agreed recently that the prior administration's refusal to name "radical Islamic terrorism" made that administration unable to deal with the same. Unless democrat lies and perfidy are called out clearly and honestly as what they are, and dealt with as such, the country has no chance.

I was watchin' an old movie ("Far From The Madding Crowd") for three hours tonight while all this stuff was breaking, just tuned in and saw the surprise.
Once again I'll ask:
Can't anybody here play this game?
I said it before last night, and I'll say it once more:
RECESS APPOINTMENT.
The democrat-communists CANNOT PREVENT such an appointment from happening.
It's right there in the Constitution.
But it's got to be done "on the sly".
NO advance warning (or else they'll try to keep the Senate in session).
Mr. Trump should (very) privately ask Judge Kavanaugh if he's willing to accept.
And the moment the Senate adjourns.... DO IT.
As much of a surprise as these (so called) "new allegations"!
Once done, there is NOTHING the democrat-communists can do about it.
This is how to beat them.
By January 2019 there's a very good chance our majority in the Senate will increase by 2 or 3. And by then Flake and Corker will be gone, and we won't even need Murkowski or Collins. Just have a quick confirmation vote (Justice Kavanaugh will already be "on the bench") and be done with it.
-
Murkowski will likely be a nay vote anyways.
The republican party should make clear to her, and all other senators, that they will receive no party support at the next election if they fail to support this vote.
Putting Constitutional Conservatives on the USSC is the only thing that republicans still supposedly agree on. It was the sole reason many voted for Trump, and an issue on which all republicans agree with Trump. Any republican senator who is not reliable on this issue is simply not needed. If party discipline cannot prevail here, the party is actually dead.

Trump does not "confirm" the judge to a recess appointment.
He merely -- APPOINTS him.
The judge will immediately become a Supreme Court Justice and will serve until the end of the next session of Congress (I believe).
When the new Senate convenes in January 2019 -- with probably a few more Republican seats -- it should be a simple matter to hold a single confirmation vote. Flake and Corker will be gone, and by then Collins and Murkowski can be ignored.

For that, you can thank the leftists. Our founders are roiling in their graves over what has become of this nation. Not a fan of that "fundamental transformation".

Well, that's it for me guys. I am officially never going to another party for the rest of my life. A party is obviously a dangerous place to be, if you are a guy. Hell, the girls can say anything thing they want to and then call the FBI on you.

If the point of MeToo is to encourage women to report assaults, this horse manure is not going to help. For every real case of assault, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of bogus claims and now the real victims are going to find it harder to be believed. We had come so far from the days when reporting an actual assault would either be laughed at or the victim would be blamed for what happened. Besmirching a public figure with false allegations of impropriety will only result in cases of real assault not being reported, or if reported, not being believed.
Thank you Democrats and Soros-backed radical commie groups. You just set back women about 50 years or more. Guess you don't really care about women after all.

The time is passed for having sympathy for anyone having any role in these allegations. All should be made such pariahs that being asked to leave a restaurant would be the high point of a good day. No sympathy for anyone who plays any part in these lies. These women should not be pitied as victims being unfairly used by democrats, they are all part of the same scheme to subvert the results of an election and destroy the reputation of a man with no credible basis of evidence.
@HoustonSam
:amen: I've been saying essentially the same for a week now.

Anyone who can’t see the screamingly obvious differences between the two cases has absolutely no sense of discernment.
@CatherineofAragon
In that case you can put me down as having no sense of discernment! There is exactly ZERO difference other than the names involved.

These women ought to be sued in Civil Court back to the stone age. They should lose everything!

@catfish1957
No! IMHO that should happen!

Threats to kill children..........these rats are SICK!

Presumably, Miz Ford was threatened also. Unfortunately, stuff like this brings out all the sickos.
I'm gonna bet most of these threats are the work of some 30+year old guys living in their parents' basement, who wouldn't move off the sofas if their lives depend on it, let alone go and ham their intended targets. But still, these threats must be taken seriously and I'm glad the Kavanaugh family has protection. I hope these threats are thoroughly investigated and even if they aren't serious, the perpetrators should be apprehended and punished severely.
-

Which begs the question. Who on the right, in their right mind, would even want to put their families through this crap? I keep thinking of how Justice Roberts did a 180 on ObamaCare. Was his family/kids threatened too?
-

Not at all. But when this is over, I would like a thorough investigation of who is behind this nonsense and have those persons or entities prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Everyone else involved in this scam -- the false accusers, Senator Feinstein included -- should be held accountable.
Unless and until the perpetrators are found out and prosecuted, this BS will happen again and again. But I don't hold out any hope that the Stupid Party will do anything. Perhaps they fear one or more of their own will be found culpable.
-
I posted this the other day that I knew[we all knew] that the rats would try something...I thought they would accuse him of being a pedophile because he coaches girls basketball....trust me they are still trying to find some kind of link there too...
Both of these women's fields are in psychology. Ford with gender related articles who is also a liberal activist. The other I am sure it will be found specializing in things they believe they have a cause for. They have stakes in the game. Probably believing they are warriors in the war against social injustice. Most likely they have connections to one or more in the liberal government. I know Ford does. Its her brother and I am sure others.
Kavanaugh is being smeared because they don't want him. They don't want him so bad they are willing to go to the length of perjuring themselves. Probably feel it is their duty.
I am going to flat out state this. Its a war. If Ivanka and her father withdraw Cavanaugh bowing to this smear campaign Trumpers will never hear the end of it from me.
-
Kavanaugh should drop out. This is just not worth putting his family through. How many of us would put our family through this for just a friggen job? Not me......
No, because the minute he does that it will embolden the libtards to do it every freaking time.
after he is confirmed he needs to sue them for defamation and name Feinstein and company as accessories and make them spend big bucks defending themselves. Grind them into the dust so that they will think twice before pulling this crap again. That is how you deal with scum sucking weasels like them.

Exactly. Kavanaugh has to recognize that this is no longer just about him. Somebody has to make a stand, because God knows the Repukes sure won't.

Agree. And this is a war that is escalating quickly.
-
Grassley needs to exhale, bring his committee together, conference with POTUS, if necessary, and agree to what they will present in tomorrow’s news conference (w/o questions) ... And then go into committee, vote Kavanaugh’s nomination to a full vote on the Senate floor.
Pass the nomination with 51 votes if necessary, but put this good man on the court!
And let the other side know this kind of scum has lost its power....and so have they.
    @You have said a lot of highly intelligent things over the years and this is one of your best. We aer in complete agreement. Message to Demoncrats STFU.

I suggest we all call with encouragement to Grassely to get this nomination through
US senators by calling 202-224-3121. Ask the operator to connect you to the individual office.
-
The allegations against Kavanaugh are transparently false.
:amen: Testify Brother make them cry like the Whiny little Beyoths they are.

Kavanaugh has shown great bravery by fighting on. The slime dim machine is doing their best to ruin his life. A lesser man would have retreated.

Article II Sec 3
SECTION 3. Decisions in all Party bodies are arrived at by majority vote or by consensus at club and district meetings unless anyone requests a vote. Decisions of leading committees on major questions shall be reported to all other Party bodies. Clubs and districts shall keep national leadership informed of their activities.
Any member disagreeing with a decision of a Party body may appeal the decision to the next higher body. Appeals may be made to successive leading committees.
Members who disagree with a decision are expected to refrain from organizing against or publicly undermining the decision, including during the appeal process.
