Seriously? Put ice in your glass, fill it with water. When the ice melts, it overflows, right?
Oh, shucks, it doesn't.

Marine or floating ice only displaces as much water as the equivalent weight of the water (and whatever solids may be trapped in it), so when it melts, the water level remains pretty much the same. DUH.
The only time melting ice makes a difference in sea level is when that ice is sitting on a continent, out of the water. Then it can add to the pool in the ocean.
More panic for the scientifically illiterate.
