By now, pretty much everyone knows that ABC’s “The View” is where fear-porn goes to foment, but co-host Whoopi Goldberg turned it up to eleven on Wednesday, doubling down on her claim that Republicans “want to bring slavery back.”

Forget for a moment that it was Republicans who freed the slaves — because Whoopi sure did. Goldberg’s absurd remark is indicative of “an election pattern,” according to popular conservative radio host Larry Elder.

“In 2012, then Vice President Joe Biden claimed GOP nominee Mitt Romney would ‘put you all back in chains,'” Elder wrote on X. “Sensing an election pattern here.”

If stupidity were painful, there wouldn't be enough morphine in the world to treat the amount of it going forth from these shrews. I somehow feel like I need to apologize for my womanhood when these idiotic pronouncements are uttered.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, Whoopi!  Republicans have toher things that need to get done before re-instituting slavery ...

- repeal gay marriage (everywhere)
- criminalize all artificial family planning / birth control / IVF (Arizona, Alabama, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito)
- repeal child labor laws (Arkansas, Huckabee-Sanders)
- repeal women's right to vote (wink wink, nod nod)
- then, reinstitute slavery and indentured servitude (wink wink, nod nod understood)

The Prosperity Gospel makes it clear that Rich People have favor with God.  Thus, Rich Donors, having God's favor, will roll-back the social progress of the past 200 years to Make America Great for Rich White Male Protestant Land-owners Again.

So, Whoopi, as you see, the vast right-wing conspiracy for a white Christian nationalist America certainly has much work to do to bring back slavery.

If the Republican Party does not stand for white male protestant Christian nationalism, what does it stand for?  Certainly not for fiscal responsibility, not for smaller Government, and not for personal liberty.

If you cobble radical, right, Republican zealot agendas into a quilt, you get a reactionary theocracy - a extremist fundamentalist Christian version of Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Massachusetts tried theocracy in the 1600s.  All we got were witch trials and a Scarlet Letter.  Religion does not corrupt Poltiics; Politics corrupt Religion.  Given enough time and hysteria, everyone hangs, witch or not.

Okay gang, show of hands. How many white people here want to have black slaves? Zero? You mean nobody here wants to have black slaves or slaves of any color? Gee whiz I'm flabbergasted.  I thought that's just what every white person wants.....black slaves.  :silly:
 I'll bet if you took a poll of white Americans the amount of them who would want to reintroduce black slavery would also be about zero.
All kidding aside, Goldberg and other nuts like her deserve to be fired from their jobs. Imagine some white so-called celebrity saying the blacks should be re-enslaved. They would have a pitifully short career.
That some person so devoid of actual comedic talent as Goldberg can get rich saying such horrible things shows how thoroughly bankrupt modern liberalism has become.

Worse, most of us want to export Commies to some island that is isolated. They will harpy themselves in.

I want neighbors of any color that don't think they are owed anything, don't feel the need to push communism and racism and just want to be good God-fearing folks. I have one neighbor of color this a dear.... my wife and her exchange sewing tips and chat often.

There was a time when black slaves risked being whipped and sold down the river for becoming educated, learning to read, write and do arithmetic. There were owners who risked severe penalties for allowing or even encouraging the education of their slaves, done to make their operations more efficient.

Now there seems to be a serious resistance to acquiring a meaningful education, in something useful (STEM, for instance). While I am sure there are exceptions, there seems to be an urban phenomenon of resistance to even a High School level of proficiency. Now that they can, they do not.

Go figure.

No white person wants to own anybody. I used to think that somebody like Goldberg, who is admittedly a typical liberal, would have enough sense to know that.
The fact that she would make a statement like that makes me suspect that there must be many more black people who think the same thing. Like I'd want to have somebody like Goldberg around where I live. You couldn't pay me enough money.
