A Washington Post reporter dropped a bombshell Thursday night: that investigators working for Jeff Bezos believe “a government entity†may have obtained his text messages, and rather than a phone hack, that this is how the National Enquirer got them.....

I was going to make a new post with this report, but I will just tack it on here since it is so closely related. The author makes the case that the "government entity" is not the US government, but a foreign one. Note that this is coming from the Observer, Jared Kushner's online newspaper.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos rocked American politics yesterday by exposing an effort by his nemesis American Media Inc., publisher of The National Enquirer, to blackmail the multibillionaire mogul. By publicly taking on the country’s most notorious scandal sheet, Bezos opened the door to an espionage scandal that threatens to rock the nation’s capital and beyond.
Posting salacious accusations of criminality on the web is no routine matter, especially when it’s the world’s wealthiest man doing it, but that’s just what Bezos did by explaining that AMI attempted to coerce him into stopping his investigation into The National Enquirer’s activities.
This sordid saga burst into public view last month, when The National Enquirer published a salacious account of Bezos’ extramarital affair, complete with images of private text messages of an amorous nature between the Amazon CEO and his mistress. Bezos and his wife of 25 years soon announced their intent to divorce.
Not surprisingly, Bezos wanted to know how AMI got hold of his private messages, and when you’re worth upwards of $130 billion you can hire top-notch investigators. That’s when things got interesting. The National Enquirer isn’t accustomed to being in the hot-seat when it comes to having secrets exposed, since their business model is based on being the exposer, not the one being exposed. AMI, whose acquaintance with journalistic ethics can charitably be termed fleeting, has secrets to hide in this high-profile case.

Bezos' investigator did talk to Michael Sanchez, but Sanchez said that he didn't do it. He is supposedly an outspoken supporter of Trump and a friend of Roger Stone, so who knows. I wonder if Lauren Sanchez was sent in as a honeypot.

During the 2016 campaign there was a list of about 90 General level former US military officers that publicly supported Trump.
Since then we have also learned that many at the top of "intelligence" agencies, were at work to oppose Trump.
It stands to reason there are others outside government, on both sides. Media being just one.
Electronic data security seems like a discipline that cuts across everything I listed above.
Just because the richest man in the world's security was "breached" and possibly held up to blackmail does not mean Trump had anything to do with it.
Perhaps Trump should propose tha GW Bush and B Obama, co-chair the highest level study panel, to solve data security breaches, for our national security sake. Give J. Assange immunity and re-entry and put him on the panel too.
Change the paradigm from Pro-Trump or Anti-Trump, to Pro America.

“This sounds to me like a soap opera,†Adel Al-Jubeir told CBS’ “Face the Nation†in an interview that aired Sunday. “Maybe some of our citizens read The National Enquirer then they’re in the United States … but that’s it.â€
Bezos, the world’s richest person, blew the lid off an attempt by American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer, to threaten to release to the public selfies and messages Bezos exchanged with former TV anchor Lauren Sanchez, with whom he was having an affair.
“Several days ago, an AMI leader advised us that Mr. Pecker is ‘apoplectic’ about our investigation,†Bezos wrote last week in a blog post on Medium, referring to AMI CEO David Pecker. “For reasons still to be better understood, the Saudi angle seems to hit a particularly sensitive nerve.†...

The brother of Lauren Sanchez, the former Los Angeles news anchor who has a romantic relationship with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, reportedly leaked the couple's embarrassing texts and photos to the National Enquirer.
Multiple persons inside American Media Inc., the Enquirer's parent company, said Michael Sanchez was the source of the texts, The Daily Beast reported. Another person who has "been in extensive communication" with AMI execs also confirmed that Sanchez had supplied the texts to the Enquirer, the news site reported.
American Media Inc. declined comment to The Daily Beast on the story. Michael Sanchez declined to respond when "asked directly more than a half-dozen times whether or not he supplied the texts," the site said.
Michael Sanchez, who has denied leaking the texts, on Fox News' "MediaBuzz" Sunday criticized the strategy of Gavin de Becker, the security expert Bezos has hired to investigate how the Enquirer got hold of his text messages. ...

As of today. The girlfriend had shared e-mail, texts and photos with others. And her entire computer had been downloaded to another computer as a backup. I need to find that article. It seems Bezos may have stuffed this up all on his own.

Jeff Bezos' girlfriend has privately acknowledged that she shared some photos and texts from the Amazon founder with several female friends, adding to the mystery of who leaked salacious material to the National Enquirer, according to a source close to the couple.
In addition, the girlfriend, television personality Lauren Sanchez, also had the contents of her computer downloaded onto her assistant's computer for safekeeping, according to the source.
It could not be determined whether any of the material that Sanchez shared with friends was sexually explicit. But it casts the probe in a new light at a time when Bezos, who owns The Washington Post, is accusing the Enquirer's parent company of trying to blackmail him over still-unpublished nude photos and intimate texts.
The firm, American Media Inc., owned by President Trump's friend David Pecker, has insisted that it obtained the Bezos texts and pictures lawfully.
